Your annotation is confusing: 0.049999 euro cents = 0.00049999 Euro. If that The Rock Euro rate is 0.049999 Euro, it would infer that Ripple is giving away about 5500 Euro equivalent per day... if ever that could be monetarized. The going rate would just about cover our house electricity bill at 613pnts : XRP.

Easy answer to this question is the the user donch who is logged into this thread right now and has posted in it is listed as the #2 guy on the Ripple team with 19 million+ WCG points since he joined on November 13 and has 280 device installations.. IT manager at some big company or maybe at Ripple labs themselves?
----------------------------------------Perhaps he can enlighten us as to what he is receiving from this new endeavor? ![]() [Edit 4 times, last edit by Movieman at Dec 2, 2013 3:16:03 AM] |

I'm curious as to why everyone is focusing on WCG points. When you go to your stats page on computingforgood.org, they report hours contributed and XRP earned.
----------------------------------------Right now the total hours contributed is 17770135 and total XRP is 3837911. so that works out to about 4.63 XRP per hour. Maybe that's an average and it really is based on boinc points, IDK. Too lazy to actually dig into this. Anyway, my experiment failed. I no gotz no XRPz so I haz a sad. Had to join the Ripple team it seems. Farewell Andrax. I shall return. ![]() ![]() |

During the beta for the XRP giveaway, WCG points were used as the metric. The ComputingForGood.org site is the production site, but hasn't really gone live. Anyway, my experiment failed. I no gotz no XRPz so I haz a sad. Had to join the Ripple team it seems. Farewell Andrax. I shall return. Actually, the XRP already distributed has been based on the beta period. Everyone who signed up recently at ComputingForGood.org is still waiting on their initial distribution. Either the American Thanksgiving holiday caught someone unawares or the team ran into an issue taking the production giveaway site live during the holiday. Either way, the giveaway is not yet running on automatic. Give it a few days, and the XRP should start flowing. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Dec 2, 2013 7:15:27 AM] |

IT manager at some big company or maybe at Ripple labs themselves? Perhaps he can enlighten us as to what he is receiving from this new endeavor? donch is a clever guy who harnessed the power of Amazon's Elastic Computing Cloud (EC2) to amass a ridiculously large number of XRP for a ridiculously low cost. Since XRP isn't just random points, but linked into a distributed currency exchange via Ripple, he paid pennies on the dollar for a token that can actually be exchanged for goods and services. Whether he sells off his XRP, holds it in the hope that it appreciates in value or uses it to make markets on the currency exchanges inside Ripple remains to be seen. He will probably do all three. Note: The WCG to XRP conversion rate going forward probably won't be as good as it was during the beta period when donch amassed most of his points. |

... We don't really know if it will use points or hours for determining how much XRP you get. Anyone who can read, has a certain advantage. From www.computingforgood.org: How many XRP will I get? First, you’ll sign up for the “Ripple Labs” WCG team, and create a Ripple account at www.ripple.com/client. Once you begin computing, you’ll generate WCG points, which then get redeemed as XRP in your Ripple account. Each day, we’ll post on this page the total amount of XRP we’re giving away. At the end of each day, we’ll give you an amount of XRP proportional to your share of the WCG points earned by the whole team that day. |

Either way, the giveaway is not yet running on automatic. Give it a few days, and the XRP should start flowing. I would be very leery of a site that was supposed to go live on day X and failed to do so. Yes, maybe a legitimate glitch but to me any thinking person would take a quiet step back and wait to see what happens. Also please understand that I wish no one or team any ill will here. As my friend said earlier anything that brings new people to the work we do is a plus and welcomed. Just after 61 years on this planet I've learned to wait and see vs jumping in headfirst as many do today. ![]() |

Not sure about clever, brave maybe
![]() It's worth bearing in mind that the USD/XRP was 6x lower than what it is now, so the risks at the time were higher. Also I had to cash out a large number of XRP to pay for the cluster, so I really haven't done nearly as well as I could have. But yes, the initial ratios were extremely generous. It's also worth considering that in a week's time the same thing could happen to the USD/XRP exchange rate, given the current Chinese demand. It's all a game, but a fun game. No-one on this forum has anything to lose from temporarily switching to the Ripple Labs team, so why not engage in a bit of CPU speculation :-) You could topple IBM too ![]() |

You did, you did topple IBM on CPU time:
Ripple Labs 52:236:16:46:58 IBM 48:151:09:23:20 Team 2ch 20:165:04:47:32 It's good to read you managed to convert part of your 'earnings' into EC2 time... makes the case for going out to buy even more. ![]() |
