Except "investing" in RSC isn't investing in XRP is it? RSC is nothing more than a self-issued IOU. And IOUs of this nature can be issued as often as you like in whatever amounts you like.
----------------------------------------Hardly a wise "investment." ![]() ![]() |

As I said already, it wasn't meant as an endorsement to invest in RSC and I'm sorry if it looked like it.
Of course XRP and RSC are completely different things. |

The value just seems to keep dropping.

Yes. One of the founders of the company, Jed McCaleb, announced about a week and a half ago that he would be selling his XRPs in 2 weeks. That means on or about June 4th.
----------------------------------------The price dropped by about half after this announcement and was as low as .002 dollars per XRP at the lowest point a few days ago. Jed has, we believe, between 6 and 9 billion XRP. The daily volume is in the tens and maybe at times a few hundred million. So if he does indeed dump all of his XRP as he has stated he will and does so on the open market instead of via a private placement or some other means, it is likely that it will depress the price significantly. My own opinion on this is that the price could go to .0001 fairly quickly but there are others who would disagree. We will have to wait and see. But many have already sold in anticipation of this event. Many have also lost a significant amount of money in the process considering the fact that they bought in at prices of .02 or higher. For those of us that got our XRPs for free, it's not a big deal, but the people who actually traded cash are quite upset by this development. ![]() ![]() |

There is quite a bit of back and forth on the ripple forums about this.

Well it might be a good time to buy....
----------------------------------------when the price drops, I have almost 10,000 ripples (from the giveaway) and I'll just keep them for fun, I already cashed in most of my ripples. Really don't think most of these crypto currencies are going anywhere. Though I was talking to a guy who had mined 700 bitcoins and sold 100 when it got to 1200 apiece. Uncle Sam took his cut but still he was out of debt bought this and that etc. We better find a cure for something... I coulda been mining bitcoins! (don't take me too seriously there) ![]() |

It is therefore of interest whether they continue to crunch as CfG appoaches its end, and more importantly, after XRPs can no longer be earnt. It will be interesting to see if Ripple take account of work in P/V gaol when CfG finally ends. Hi jonnieb, Any update on this? It might be interesting to see the movements/production Cheers ![]() ![]() Crunching@Home since January 13 2000. Shrubbing@Home since January 5 2006 ![]() |

Sorry branjo I've been busy with other things but I will post updated stats in the next couple of days.
---------------------------------------- A comment in another thread suggested that with the end of the XRP giveaway there would be a mass desertion from the Ripple team. Whilst there has been a noticeable drop in team output, Ripple consistently features in the top 3 teams for daily crunching. There have been only 611 retirements from the team and only 271 of them can be said to be "chasing the money" : No Team 139 Set against this Ripple has continued to atract members new to WCG averaging 35 per week for the last 3 months totaling 576. 280 Ripple members appear in the AllTime Global5000 RunTime However 20 have beem InActive since at least Apr 3 and a further 119 InActive since Jun 13. A snapshot of the Daily Global5000 RunTime for Jul 18 contained 533 members of Ripple |

You know, if you're going to say something like x number of people were only chasing the money, perhaps you could clarify how it is you know that - or perhaps I should say on what basis you're making that guess. I assume you have a snapshot of the Ripple team from either when RL announced they were discontinuing the giveaway or from the end of May when it officially terminated. But it would be nice if you explicitly stated that.

It seems a reasonable assumption when the 271 users concerned moved to 3 other teams - RSC; GridCoin, WCGcoin - who offer (virtual) money in return or in relation to crunching.
