I don't know how long I'll be sticking around WCG. My electricity bill has only been going up so unless I want to continue to pay over $500/month (closer to $800 in the summer) I'm going to look into putting some of the servers on Slicify. I just don't like inviting unknown software onto my home network, even if it is supposedly in its own VM. Plus I'd like Slicify to be out of beta when I do it. I'll definitely be leaving the Ripple team though. And I'll probably keep some machines on WCG, just not the servers. I'm thinking of being a peripatetic cruncher - moving from one team to another every few months. edit: btw, I looked at the top 10 people on the Ripple team. By some miracle I seem to be #10. But of the other 9, 4 have already stopped contributing. Hey, I've only been running one computer my entire time that I've been with the grid. Every little bit helps. If its ruining your bill then do what you need to do. Nothing wrong with that. |

Thanks CT. I don't mean to blame my bill on crunching. I figure only between $100-150 per month is due to all of the computers and since I would normally be running at 2 anyway, although not a full load, maybe you can even shave a few bucks off of that estimate.
----------------------------------------I just live in an old house that was built in the 60's - ancient, right? LOL. It's pretty well insulated but hardly air tight like newer structures. Plus I really need to adapt the HVAC to multi-zone since that would probably save me some money too but then I have to deal with contractors - all of whom seem to want to bend me over. I can't even find a reliable person to mow my lawn so I've pretty much given up the idea of getting any work done.![]() ![]() |

The Ripple contribution to WCG total output:
----------------------------------------RunTime Points Results AllTime RunTime Points Results Evidence of the gradual slowdown in Ripple's activity can be seen in the falling average RunTime per day: ![]() The downward trend has accelerated somewhat in the last week and RunTime per day currently averages 345.2 years. |

The slowdown in Ripple's activity notwithstanding I expect them to pass both Team 2ch and IBM to take the #1 spot in the RunTime rankings over the course of the Easter weekend.
----------------------------------------Progress in the Points and Results rankings is less certain although on present levels of activity #1 should be achieved in both by Jun 1. |

I think many people are decided to stay at CfG until the very end even if the payout rates will drop down, but we'll see how it continues after they stop paying completely.

I think people are already starting to leave the Computing For Good team because as the payout amount drops (from 750,000 to 500,000) I seem to get more Ripple per day from the (WCG Point to Ripple) ratio increasing. |

I hope to publish a full summary shortly but as a pointer:
----------------------------------------
Of 17,563 "Live" members 10,398 have crunched in the last 28 days including 8,102 in the last week. I suspect that twilyth may have something with his comment above about the departure of the "heavy hitters" and I'm looking to gather some data in this respect. |

@ twilyth
----------------------------------------I looked at the top 10 people on the Ripple team. By some miracle I seem to be #10. But of the other 9, 4 have already stopped contributing. When you say "top 10 people on the Ripple team" what criteria are you using? If it's taken from a listing on the Ripple/CfG site can you post the link I'm looking to summarise who's done/doing what, and when, and it makes no sense to reinvent the wheel if the information is already available. ![]() |

I used BOINCStats and sorted by total credits. Then I looked at the last 40 days for each person.
