Server not downloading work

Once again the server is not downloading any work. Instead it sends the "experiencing high load" message.

Re: Server not downloading work

biggrin
knreed sent me a message less than 45 minutes ago - he is working on this problem.
Yea - this time I haven't gone to bed yet and I'm working on it.
The load is clients asking for work that isn't there at the moment. Only FightAIDS@Home on Vina and CEP2 have work at the moment. We are generating ~17 jobs per second right now but it isn't enough to keep up with demand at the moment. I'm looking to see what I can do to speed it up.

I echo this sentiment. We trust you guys to look into these issues and get them sorted out.
Good luck!

Re: Server not downloading work

Here is a bizarre adjunct to the situation. I have noticed that each time I am issued the overloaded server message soon thereafter I receive what appears to be a full set of all the .zips, .pngs, and .gifs for each of the three active sciences. I've seen this happen at least 5 times on one of my devices, and I think also on the other three devices. I don't recall having seen that behavior except at the initial installation, and certainly not 5 times. It is almost as if the initial installation routine is in a loop, or is being called from within the message system. I know, it sounds crazy, but ... there you are.

Re: Server not downloading work

Thanks, pbenn.

I reported the unnecessary GIF downloads that some people (not I) were getting, but you have added additional information.

Re: Server not downloading work

Right.
knreed is aware of that too.

Personally I have already got this set of files 8 times over a 7-hour period...

I don't think so yet.
But that does not forbid receiving a few WUs now and then between unsuccessful requests.

Edit: Confirmed, not fixed yet.
I have received a ninth set of gif/png files and a few "no tasks sent", still hoping to reach a modest 8-hour work buffer. smile

Edit2: It might be fixed now, I have received a long-awaited 49-WU delivery which completed my work queue.
Anyway I won't see a new work request before hours now. smile

Re: Server not downloading work

The repeated file download issue should be resolved.

We have been struggling to keep up with the demand for FightAIDS@Home - VINA given that MCM and FightAIDS@Home - Autodock don't currently have work. We were loading about ~17 per second but we have been able to increase that it about ~22 per second. We think that is going to let us get ahead of the requests for work.
