Hi everybody,
I am a a Ph.D. student researching on mathematical modeling of grid resources and grid environments using Markov chains and Petri nets. I have modeled a single grid resource using Markov chains and calculated some useful performance measures for the resource. The model is a mathematical model and its correctness can be proven mathematically by tracing the formulas. Unfortunately, I have a problem with all the journals I am sending my papers to them. They have rejected my paper just because of lack of experimental data. They have emphasized that the model seems good but I should provide some experimental results regarding the applicability of the model to real world. Now, I am looking for some experimental data about a grid resource. Actually, my model needs some data related to “global tasks arrival rate to the resource”, “local tasks arrival rate to the resource”, “resource processing speed (or the number of processors and their processing capabilities)”, “the failure and repair rate of the resource” and finally “the performance of the resource in the form of time spent to service the submitted global tasks”. Hereby, I want to ask you all about the possibility of finding these measures or some related measures of a grid resource in internet. I would appreciate if somebody could help me in this regard and provide me with the related parameters or introduce me some resources on this matter. Thank you. |

I would suggest you contact WCG directly using the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of the main page. Explain what you are requesting and someone from the team will contact you.

Hi Entezari and Welcome to the Pleasure grid
----------------------------------------![]() Try contacting somebody from BOINC and/or people running mathematical projects, e.g. Collatz Conjecture, NFS@home, NumberFields@home, OProject@Home, PrimeGrid,... (you can find the list of all BOINC projects here). Good luck ![]() NI! ![]() ![]() Crunching@Home since January 13 2000. RE:
---------------------------------------- “resource processing speed (or the number of processors and their processing capabilities)” You could derive this information from Boincstats at: http://boincstats.com/en/stats/-1/host/breakdown/cpu/ Remeber this would be across all OS's and all the BOINC projects. Hope this helps Cheers

I am not sure if our grid would be useful or not for your particular model. I would suggest that you use the contact-us method and we can discuss this further with email.
