Tiny WU - I think I'll have this one bronzed

It may be the only time one of my devices gets through all 16 Jobs.

Re: Tiny WU - I think I'll have this one bronzed

The short units started coming today. I'm getting lots of them. 2-4 hour completion times. New batch of smaller molecules maybe? Would be a nice change after crunching the large molecules that hit the 12 hour cutoff.

I've gotten several that completed in ~2 hrs. All valid.

This morning, i've got page after page of 'ERROR' like this:

Re: Tiny WU - I think I'll have this one bronzed

grumpygrampy, I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, although
Application exited with RC = 0x1
indicates that the job completed prematurely - and once any of the steps terminates with this kind of error, all the following are skipped.

.... I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news....

thanks gb.

i rebooted the pc, restarted boinc, and downloaded 8 fresh wu's.

they all appear to be happy campers...

(the 'ERROR' wu's all failed within 5 seconds of starting with 'COMPUTATION ERROR', but i can't see any commonality between the files).

Re: Tiny WU - I think I'll have this one bronzed

Recently we had a rash of "normal" sized CEP WUs that were processing to time out, then reported as ERROR thru 10 or more iterations. It appears we may now have a similar situation with the Tiny WUs. Here we are with eight down and two more queued up.

Re: Tiny WU - I think I'll have this one bronzed

I'm getting a lot of errors with these new units on all my machines and WU stats show that other hosts exhibit the same.

Re: Tiny WU - I think I'll have this one bronzed

This problem should now be fixed. We've finished updating the validator to handle these work units which were previously erroring out and you should automatically get credit for future work units where this occurs (previous work units have manually had credit given). The problem was that the current library contains one or more molecular building blocks which lead to compounds which are difficult to characterize quantum chemically. Information about which work units experience this will help the scientist learn from it for the future.
