Its nonsense. I got this after my macbook crapped out (9 years i had it). Friggin win8 is all they seem to have in south korea. Its a laptop so Id love to put a better cooler in it. Just never got around to it. Never been an issue until i tried to run boinc. Randomly have the system eat nearly 100% of disk too (thanks windows bugs). Ill have these two desktops keep crunching though. Woops... My bad. I don't know of any way to put an after market cooler on a laptop. I mean you can put it on a stand with a fan under it blowing up but ... that does not seem to be too helpful. I don't know of a windows bug that eats up disk space but that might be the case on a MacBook...never messed with them. I would try to hold out for Windows 7 if I could and failing that, get the Windows 8.1 ... at least it has a start button on the "Desktop" view. Still, it seems much more suitable for a touch screen than a mouse driven user interface. Just my opinion. But Mrs. Gates boy Bill does not much care about my opinion any more. Looks to me like they would drop the price on it if they really wanted to sell it but it is still ridiculously high. |

WIN8 is so geared to touch screens that they forgot about the existing Windows base. And yes, I hear it's buggy too. As for MacBooks, it seems that there's an Apple store in Seoul. |

Macbook is stored away for the day i get the silly cable and hook it up to my external monitor. It was my photography computer only so I can live without it. This new win8 laptop has been annoying from day one. it lives on a chill pad. Ive had the OS reinstalled once already cause it was hanging. Runs better now but I still get the disk max crap all the time. supper annoying. needless to say i almost have no choice but to upgrade to the 8.1. Never shoulda bought another windows pc.

oh and whats worse is this thing cost more than a new mbpro. Its very fast but if the disk is maxed crap doesn't run right anyways.

Years back, I worked with a guy who seemed to always have problems with his PC at work. It was way slow and blue screened on him. Always seemed to be giving him trouble. He was always deleting stuff too. Turned out the hard disk was almost full most of the time. That didn't leave enough space for the swap/paging file plus he never took the time to defrag. This was back in the NT and 2K days. With the way Windows works, it's smart to defrag at least once a week if you're crunching on it.

I now have TeamViewer running on both of my machines. Install was very simple and very quick. Feel pretty much up to speed, at least with the basics, already. Going to give myself some time running with it before I toss Citrix though.
