Milestone! ![]() Points Generated (Rank) : 140,013,236 (#877) And 120 years due in the next few days ![]() A question on points per hour... My understanding is that points per hour is based on your computer's crunching performance... so it's only reasonable to compare points/hour by project if the points are obtained on exactly the same hardware... so historically looking at points per hour for long-finished projects is pointless because most people will have upgraded their computers by now? Is that correct?

Is that correct? I guess it is dc but in my case I am using mostly the same computers that I used in 2009 (makes you want to weep doesn't it). I started out with a 27" iMac in Sept 2010 and then added a 17" Mac Book Pro in Nov 2010 and finally added a 15" Mac Book Pro in February 2014. Over the period of using Macs I have amassed approx 69.5 y of CPU time. All other results were on slow dual core PCs alas now not used (perhaps I should revive them) The figures that I posted are direct calculations from my 'Contribution' page and are probably quite specific to my computers. It is probably more relevant to look at the differential figures that I produced for OET and FAH2 (as well as the Beta WUs) as they are current. I would be interested to see other crunchers figures. All that is needed is to copy and paste the figures into Excel and then parse the run time data (Text to numbers using : as the delimiter. I then calculate 'seconds' run time (I have assumed a 365 day year so there is no compensation for leap years). and divide this into the points and multiply by 3600 to generate points / hour. Have a go yourselves - it's really simple.

Just noticed... I'm one place away from getting in the top 5000 for points. Fame at last!

I think it was Thargor who requested displaying points/hour on my stats pages. However, even if I just did this for the current projects, it's still not going to be all that accurate, because it could be the case that those with less capable hardware might avoid running CEP2 because of its demands, which would skew the averages?

Good morning everyone.
Just to confirm I love malt whiskey and always drink it neat. Whatever other people is up to them, their choice and no business of mine to say anything else. ![]() |

For those running OET, have you noticed the run-time for the work-units (batch #0001773) is a lot longer than the previous batch? Mine are running just over an hour per work-unit, with this batch.
