Good morning everyone.
dcrobinson. I agree, what would our global position be even if half of 'members' were to be crunching consistently. Feel that the phrase "Twas ever thus' can be applied. ![]() |

Good Morning All
----------------------------------------It is very interesting that less than 20% of the team are driving the results forward - The Thin Sapphire Line comes to mind. Perhaps we all suffer from OCD (or whatever the crunching equivalent is). Is there any way that 'El Capitan' can set up an email / contact initiative to bring some of the sheep back into the comfort of the fold?

I started crunching WCG in 2008 but stopped after a year because of the electricity bill, plus the fact that the forum was dead. Hardly any posts and no feedback. I started again just over a year ago after looking at the forum and seeing the difference. I think it was the major "Pull factor" in me deciding to restart crunching again. The forum was at last being used, and I truly felt I was part of a team. It is a pity that Jonnieb couldn't continue the stats but if dcrobinson does take the mantle of statsmeister and messages do go out to ex-crunchers them it may encourage them to restart crunching for the team. |

I'm definitely happy to take on the role of "statsmeister", so long as the WCG servers don't mind me pulling down all the data on every team (~17,500, in batches of 250 maximum because that's the most records you can ask for at any one time) and data for all 661 UK team members, every night. It actually takes about 70 minutes to get hold of all the data. I'd be interested to know how jonnieb used to do it.
----------------------------------------In the next couple of days I'll start adding some web pages on the UK team members, such as a top ten, overtakes, maybe even some pie charts ![]()

Good morning everyone.
RTS48, Tom Nuttal, dcrobinson and others who post frequently, I feel that the various topics covered in this forum are part of why I continue to use spare processing power in the various apps set by WCG. When I first started in 2007 I was a member of Team Userfriendly, and contributed about 8.2 million points (you could get a printable cert for each 500,000 points crunched, seemed important at the time, now not overly bothered). Although they are still in the top 50 teams (as I remember they have two educational establishments and possibly more crunching 24/7) there was not much conversation on the team pages. When I joined this team in 2012 )as douglasalt1, I could see regular posts from members who would talk on many topics technical and general conversations which is what I like. It would be good to have a similar stats update to johnnieb but is not a primary reason for staying with the team. As the Irish would say 'I am up for the craic'. ![]() |

It would be easy enough for me to install the necessary on the same virtual server that's doing my stats stuff, but it would have to replace this team thread to be of any use, which may not be to everyone's taste.

Good Morning Team
----------------------------------------As a relative newcomer to the UK forum it was initially the johnnieb stats that attracted me. Since I started posting I have come to love the forum for what it is - any subject goes, music, gardening, ice-cream etc. etc. I feel that if we compartmentalise and dive into topics then there is a danger that it will become fragmented and loose some of its 'group of friends' feel.
