Sorry mamajuanauk, that's the only thing I could think of that might cause the discrepancy you're seeing. OK thanks Soong, I've dug out a 60Gb ssd, I'm going to install on this machine, problem is I have no idea as to how to move the Boinc data drive under Ubuntu! My plan is to install the 60Gb ssd as the data drive for Boinc, with the OS remaining on the current drive. And advice would be appreciated, from anyone...

The access time for an ssd will be a couple of orders of magnitude faster - I think the raptor has a 7ms access time, compared to 0.07 for a Samsung 840 Pro.
http://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/5629/samsung...gb-ssd-review/index6.html The difference in bandwidth won't be so great, but modern SSDs will generally max out their SATA connection. |

As well as the 1,500 Years RunTime Milestone an almost unique milestone is imminent for the Team's favourite feline GrumpyCat 500 Devices In the 2 years since joining WCG his job with NHS IT has meant that he has currently cycled through 494 devices! Thats 320 devices more than crooks_uk his nearest rival.Very impressive. I just wish I still had access to all of those machines. In the early days, I was running UD rather than BOINC. Once UD became unsupported, I lost many of those. My fleet is very much reduced these days. Going to London with work for the next few weeks, back home on weekends though.
