Evening all! coffee

Another joyous day in the workhouse survived and then had a soaking on the bike for the journey home. There is still a puddle under the bike in the hallway 5 hours later.

Getting towards a red MCM, the badge for that has always made me think of a sweet in a wrapper. It's probably just me!

jhindo World Community Grid [Chief]Admin
on the impending demse of Ripple Labs Computing for Good

Dear members,
we are thankful to Ripple Labs for creating the Computing for Good initiative and introducing many new volunteers to World Community Grid. Throughout Ripple Labs' time as a World Community Grid partner, we communicated regularly and exchanged ideas for improvements. Ripple Labs recently alerted us that they were facing some technical issues, and we were working with them to resolve any that were within our control. We did not anticipate that our recent website updates would have any impact on their points calculation system, since we did not make any changes to our API, the recommended method for gathering contribution data. We're sorry to see the Computing for Good initiative end, and would be happy to work with Ripple Labs again in the future if they, or a 3rd party partner, would like to restart Computing for Good. We will also be contacting members that were new to World Community Grid as a result of the Ripple Labs initiative to encourage them to continue donating their device power to help advance our outstanding research programs.
We thank you all for your dedicated support!


  • Ripple have brought in 20,000+ new members of whom ~10.000 are currently Active
  • It's good that WCG is actively taking steps to encourage member retention once the (Ripple) money dries up.
  • Once again I question why a post of this nature is buried in a thread? WCG & I have widely differing views on what is news and of interest to the wider community.
  • "since we did not make any changes to our API! confirms my post a week ago:
    the website changes broke our point calculation system this suggests to me that they were screen scrapping. If so, then they missed/ignored knreed's warning some months ago that this would happen.
    Were I a Ripple member I would be annoyed that their point calculation system was less than robust. As a WCG member I am annoyed that Ripple are trying to shift the blame for their failings.
