UK No1 Spot Contenders 28 day average
----------------------------------------
RunTime Despite reduced capacity crooks_uk continues to extend his lead. Points themoonscrescent makes a surprise appearance as a distant contender;crooks_uk has lost ground; Maugan makes further progress at the outer limits. Results crooks_uk and Thargor have made some ground whilst Maugan has closed to within a year and DanielMan has made impressive inroads. |

SekeRob comments in this FAAH thread that the size of FAAH AutoDock WUs appears to have been reduced to comparable with FAAV WUs.
----------------------------------------Anyone care to confirm? If so then I think it's a good thing. The smaller WUs seem to be appreciated by users generally (and Android users have no choice). I forsee several consequences:

Just had a minor upgrade to my main computer after one of my laptops was forced into meltdown. Moved to a Quad core processor replacing a 3core. Also upgraded to a Radeon HD 7700 graphics for whenever the next GPU project appears. (See below)
----------------------------------------Experimenting with some overclocking settings but the fan noise and temp increase is a bit much so I think I'll be reverting to the default settings. As a consequence it seems my results are temporarily being graded Pending Verification so there'll be a day or two before there's a slight improvement in performance. jhindo has posted re future GPU apps: The new cancer project is using a different research application than HCC so just because the HCC app had GPU capabilities, doesn't mean the new project does. It does require quite a bit of extra effort for the research application developers to port an application to GPU - and then some effort for us to enable that GPU version on WCG. It's up to each research team to determine whether the significant development effort justifies the potential benefits of GPU. In the case of the new project, while the research application for it hasn't yet been ported to GPU, the research team is interested in porting it at some point. Just won't happen before launch. |
