Re: ARP1

Just got my bronze in the lunchtime update, so when Snurk updates his data over night I'll be back to having a badge in every project in his list.

I don't have a large farm. All my bronze units were received on a 4C/8T lapppie, limited to 6 concurrent (now 4) ARP1 WUs because it doesn't have quite enough memory to let me do everything else I want to do at the same time. But what I noticed very quickly after I got the first very few units was that there is a specific time past the hour when it is advantageous to issue an update request. Cron to the rescue! With that help, I could easily process 8 all the time if my machine could do it.

I'm not going to give away the time, but take a look at the received time for any that you do get and you should soon see it (assuming the techs don't change things). And happy crunching! (Oh, and don't forget to check the requirements for this project -- they're quite high -- and then to set the number of allowed WUs in your profile to more than 1. Mine is currently set for 10 to keep a good one day + one shift spare in case of outages.)

Re: Stats site

@DC,

Is it just my browser, or do you see the message "Could not draw pie with labels contained inside canvas" on the Projects page?

Thanks!

Done 2 and not seen one since!

Not seen any come through as yet. Waiting with much anticipation!

@Apis
That's a plausible error, but I've never seen it. What browser are you using, and is it still doing it?

Re: Stats site

I've got 5 ARP units, but one of them's already "failed" due to the scheduler not actually starting it on time.

I could do with going through my work-units and aborting lots of the non-ARP ones, so it forces it to do just ARP (as much as possible), but that's a nightmare to do with only having access to AndroBOINC (since you have to abort each unit individually, as far as I'm aware of its workings).

Well done DC. You are the 18th member of team UK to hit 100 million points.
It looks real good on the signature.
No one has hit a billion yet. Reduk is close and Mac1 is halfway there.

Re: Stats site

Hi DC,

First off, congrats on your new goal!

Second, I was getting busy messages from your site for the small part of yesterday that I was around, but right now both the site overall and the project pie charts are all working as expected.

And finally, I like the idea for the new tab on your site!

Re: Stats site

FYI there's one tiny problem (not breaking) with the stats site which has been bugging me, and that's when navigating to the Badges view, and the badges are loaded over HTTP instead of HTTPS introducing a mixed content error. It should be an easy fix, because as far as I can tell I can just substitute http:// for https:// and get the same badges, but perhaps there's a reason you chose to do it this way. No big issue though :)

Thanks for the feedback Harry. It's laziness on my part. The badge URLs are contained in the XML that is returned by the WCG servers when I retrieve the stats data, and I've been using them "as is". They are insecure http. However, as you say there is an https equivalent, so I've done a quick and dirty text substitution in my JavaScript (for now) to fix it. Hopefully your warnings will go away if you do a full (ctrl-F5) page refresh. I'll do a proper fix (on my server) at some point.
