Problem with 6.10.58 to 7.0.64 upgrade

Previously I had just completed performing this same operation on two other devices (all win7 i7s) with no problem.
To all appearances this upgrade had also succeeded. I was doing some insignificant tasks like narrowing of task tab columns in the new client when the "not responding" message appeared. I spent approximately 10 minutes a) staring balefully at the screen expecting BOINC Manager to find its way out and b) poking around in Win 7 task manager for any possible hints. When my admittedly limited reservoir of patience ran out I took the nuclear option and cancelled BOINC.
When I restarted BOINC the following tub of cyber entrails greeted me. Welcome back to 6.10.58.

Re: Problem with 6.10.58 to 7.0.64 upgrade

Thanks Lawrence,

Mea Culpa.

I think I am out of the woods. I hate to have to do this but, at least, it may be instructive. Continuing the long sad story, when I revisited the earlier upgrades and the one new install I discovered that, in the case of the other upgrades, they had also "regressed". The shortcut I was using pointed at "C:\Program Files(x86)\BOINC\boincmgr.exe" whereas the shortcut created for the new install pointed at "C:\Program Files\BOINC\boincmgr.exe" I had forgotten, if I ever had taken notice of the fact, that the v6 clients had begun life in the 32 bit environment, and thus still lived in the (x86) folder. When I corrected the shortcut, voila!, I was back in v7 land.

If there may be other loose ends out there please let me know. Again thanks for your prompt response.

Paul
