Why not AIDS projects? As it's a voluntary effort - and thus, it's the volunteers computer(s)/electricity that they're using, it's each and everyone's own choice as to what they crunch. As I can see that ultimaThule has contributed at least 2 years to FA@H, and has some personal reasons for not wishing to contribute more to that particular project, we've got to respect his decisions. With regards to different BOINC projects, then perhaps you could choose from this list. I'm sure they'll all be glad of your contributions. Please though, do keep an eye open, back here, as I'm sure that there'll be new projects coming soon - along with the return of SN2S/DSFL & HFCC at some point. ![]() |

I only asked because it could a technical issue or something like it.. All members are free to choose whatever projects they want to support. ![]() - AMD Ryzen 5 1600AF 6C/12T 3.2 GHz - 85W - AMD Ryzen 5 2500U 4C/8T 2.0 GHz - 28W - AMD Ryzen 7 7730U 8C/16T 3.0 GHz |

Hi ultima,
----------------------------------------I would go to Simap and/or Rosetta. Anyway, whatever project you choose as a backup, set "Resource share" to 0 in projects Preferences - it will ensure that when WCG will restart sub-project you would like to support, it will automaticly start running it instead of "backup" project(s). Cheers ![]() ETA: Unfortunately, Rosetta can not be set as a backup project with Resource share 0 (it automatically sets it to 100). Probably because of using an older version of the boinc server ![]() ![]() Crunching@Home since January 13 2000. Why not AIDS projects? Very good question, have to admit. My intuitive resistance raise from simple fact that I will not get it, nor anybody on my life. It has been blood transfusion item here something like 1980's and total cases where something like three on nation wide. So getting AIDS here is equal to get bullet hole on gang wars, this is something that need to ask, there is no way that anybody would get this accidentally or something. But really when widening my horizon, of course there is possibility that somebody get raped etc... So of course this item can be seen neutral as malaria, there is possibility that some carmelite nun get raped and how much less there would be suffer on that person life if there would be something like one-pill-cure to get it over. So, now I will need to carry guilt about not even trying to help those peoples.... Or just carry my part to help them... Dangit, so hard to be human! ![]() |

I have always hoped that finding a cure for one disease might lead to a cure for another. I have a very good friend who has Lupus, which is also an autu-immune illness so who knows... It's one of the reasons I keep several machines running 24/7 that I could turn off for the night (and save on electricity ) Having said that, why & what we crunch is at the end of the day a personal decision. I wish you luck in your search... ![]() |
