Re: FightAIDS@Home - VINA Beta test July 9, 2013 - Issues Thread

All new work has been sent out.

OldChap, they would go first if their deadline was in risk of being hit. But since they are short work unit with a long deadline, I think they're safe.

Thanks,

Re: FightAIDS@Home - VINA Beta test July 9, 2013 - Issues Thread

Grabbed over 100. All are running/have run smoothly. No problems with suspending/restarting. Checkpointing regularly, again with no problem. It's very welcome to have these shorter WUs wink
This batch seems to be complete for now.
XP machine is reporting that there is no new work (i.e. no new WUs). Vista and Win7 continue to pull in new WUs

Update: I forgot to mention that the betas made the CPU temps rise by a degree or so, enough for TThrottle to kick in. Once they had all finished, CPU temp dropped back down and throttling no longer required. It's not a thing I have ever noticed before, but this unusual warm spell in UK is making more aware of temps than usual.

If you start a beta just after a 12-hour outage, it's mostly going to be picked up by those who constantly read the threads, not by those whose machines have backed off communications because of the outage.

Re: FightAIDS@Home - VINA Beta test July 9, 2013 - Issues Thread

The 'snipers' will probably pick up the majority, but I think that is true of any beta test.

If you have beta selected, I'd think the average user would have a better chance of picking some up after an outage. Their queue should have room, and since I believe beta units are the first sent out, you should pick some up.

I got three with no queue management on my side.

Re: FightAIDS@Home - VINA Beta test July 9, 2013 - Issues Thread

I got 7 WUs. 6 ran without incident.

BETA_ FAHV_ x4I7G_ RT_ NNRTIadj_ wNNRTI_ 0045260_ 1111_ 1-- 703 User Aborted 7/9/13 23:51:58 7/10/13 02:22:37

This one ran for several hours and kept restarting. It would run until just over 10% complete and then restart. I aborted the WU.

Got about 60 WUs, all ran fine and are marked as either valid or waiting for validation. No problems at all.

Re: FightAIDS@Home - VINA Beta test July 9, 2013 - Issues Thread

I had a few restarting every ten minutes or so. I also noticed that using the BOINC manager to suspend crunching did not stop them. On task manager, there they were - still running. More surprising was that after aborting one of the units, it was still using a full core.

Perhaps the interface with BOINC manager needs to be looked at?

Re: FightAIDS@Home - VINA Beta test July 9, 2013 - Issues Thread

This one for the techs: Some devices have issue with VINA [homogeneity of CPU or OS-X combo's in quorum], but not with AutoDock. How you let the users pick the right science app for FA@H, so they wont get the luck of the draw / inundation with Pending Verification?
