Re: Quiet (Too Quiet) on the SN2S Front

Greetings again,

Sorry to leave everyone on the edge of how much work and why is it still intermittant. So let me fix that :)

We have some work from the researchers, by some I mean that if we were to run this project at FULL weight, meaning i would get about 45% of the grid, then the work would last only 3 weeks. So, we have put this at a lower weight than FA@H, but if you have only SN2S selected, then you should be able to get work. If you have both, then the odds of you getting SN2S over the FAAH work would be about 1:20 ratio if not worse, since those who only have sn2s would pull from the feeder first.

Why is it still intermittant, because there is a larger pool of work units in the works and we hope to have those before this smaller group runs out. By leaving it intermittant it was our hopes that the members hopes (yes too many hopes in a sentence) wouldn't plan for steady work just in case the larger set of work comes after we run out. We didn't want to tease you into thinking a steady set of work would be available when we don't have our hands on the larger set of work.

Next question that will come, How much larger is the next set of work. This is an unknown right now. My personal opinion is months if not years of work. Again that is my opinion but without having our hands on the work I can not give you a certain answer.

Thanks,
-Uplinger

uplinger, I'm grateful that you're willing to give tentative information about what's "in the works" even if it's not guaranteed. In return, we crunchers mustn't complain if plans change.

Re: Quiet (Too Quiet) on the SN2S Front

Thanks for the update. Why not start an ongoing thread entitled something like: "Tech Updates" or "Current ops" or Grid Tech's Blog" where you could post these kind of details. I understand the downsied: You might say something like "new GPU WUs being considered" and you get all kinds of heat from those that went out a bought new hardware and are disappointed when the WUs are delayed. But I still think it would make some of us feel more included in what you do for us. I know it would be the first thread I'd check.

Thanks again.

Thanks, uplinger, for the update and for the WU. I'll take the WU as long as they last, and if they stop, that's OK. You guys are doing the best you can, and we crunchers appreciate it! It is nice, though, to have it rain WU. I live in a desert, and if we could get more real rain without flooding, I would truly be in heaven ...
