BOINC Installation is already quite idiot proof, certainly for Windows. All you need to do is log into a local account, *not* a MS (online) Account, start the installer [right click in the file browser and select to run as administrator] and when executed, select at least the Advanced installer screen, All all users. Choosing Service in same screen will ensure BOINC runs before logging in, but you wonrt be able to do GPGPU project participation. Missed it? Uninstall and Install again until you got it right. Then you will crunch only while being logged in. Do not worry, this setting is sufficient for most of the home PCs, I doubt if you normally turn on your PC and leave it as not logged?

Log-in aka Sign-In on your computer to your computer account, for instance 'Hintsala', and to emphasize, it has to be a local account, not one Microsoft knows about through their live.com system! The BOINC client logs into WCG whenever it needs to fetch/report work. That is the WCG user account/password, a different level, preferred to not be named the same as your computer account... or you give away a piece of the access information to the public [another reason why installing as service is more secure... then BOINC shows registered to the generic limited rights boinc_account]

P.S. When I wrote "All all users", that was a typo... the option in the installer is "Allow all users".
