The "Latest Active Threads" is sorely lacking here. Too few.
----------------------------------------Nearly everywhere. Especially for the LAT's for the Teams recruiting. All you see is the Top Nine or Ten "views" from Teams who are recruiting. That is *way* too few. It creates problems and it has before, by complaints by some Teams trying to keep "current". This is a huge problem. There should be at least 20 threads ... in each category. Just my 2 centavos. |

According to the mvnforum web page, the latest release 1.0 RC4_04 has the ability to show the most active threads in the last 7 days. However, I don't think that this is based on a per user basis so that each user has their own list of recent posts since last login.
Until this is implemented in mvnforum, there is nothing that there admins can do her. Have a look here for more information on the latest version. I hope that the Admins will see fit to upgrade at some stage as this release is seen as stable and the General Acceptance (GA) version of 1.0 |

JC, I could not agree more... With the forums getting more active I hope that the "higher ups" are taking notice of our suggestions....This is a good forum and we are just trying to make it better for everyone....

In 'My Forum Profile' I have set 'Posts Per page' to 20. By default it is 10, but I believe it can be up to 50. This helps me see the most recent threads without a lot of paging. I agree that 10 is just too small for someone using the forum often.
There are a lot of features in mvnForum RC3 that need improvement. I would like to see us move to RC4. One problem is that mvnForum is designed to run on a single server but the WCG uses 2 servers to maintain reliability. So it takes more programming effort than you might suspect to upgrade from RC3 to RC4. Right now we have a lot of programming effort going on in the background which I would like to see brought to fruition before I start carping about the Forum. It gets the basic job of providing support done. [But it's unexciting. Oh well. . . .] mycrofth Just a last minute thought. While it makes sense for a Guest to use 10 posts per page, maybe we should raise the default value for members who sign in to a higher value like 20. After all, they can always change their Forum Profile back to 10 if that really is their preference. |

Thanks mycrofth - it amazes me every time I read your posts how much indepth knowledge you have...... off comes my hat to you. Thank you for sharing it with us.
----------------------------------------but I believe it can be up to 50. I use 50 and it works. The only thing is that the session (I use IE as default browser) seems to time out after about 30secs of idle time and goes back to default even though you are still logged in. So every now and then I have to log off and log back in.... but hey! There are worse things in life ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Aug 18, 2005 10:12:05 PM] |

There are specific settings for number of posts in forums which are not set in your normal profile. Go here and change the setting to 50, then try it and see if it helps. |

sure you don't mean 30 minutes, and not 30 seconds? it does that to me after 30 minutes, on firefox.

Thanks, Graham.
This is some sort of time-out bug that occasionally strikes me long before I should time out. Nice to know a quick fix. ![]() |
