HCC (ati_hcc1) all tasks returned are INVALID

Anyone care to think with me on this subject?

I'm running the HCC (ati_hcc1) tasks on a HP EliteBook 8560p fitted with a Radeon HD 6470M and BOINC manager 6.10.58
They were still taking about a hour to run and when returned and validated they turned out to be INVALID.

For the moment I've turned off GPU computing on this computer.

Regards,
Frits Schouten.

BOINC manager 6.10.58 <-- This is more than likely your biggest problem. Update to the latest version 7. They are much better optimized to run GPU tasks.
Also, GPU crunching puts a lot of strain on your GPU. Sometimes problems of invalid returns can be corrected by raising the core voltage 5 or 10 Mv but along with raising the voltage comes more heat so keep an eye on your temps. Notebooks are not really designed to do this kind of work.

Ummm isn't 6.10.58 the latest available from this site?
And you're right. The notebook is not designed for this work but it was sitting idle in the corner so I thought I might as wel have it crunching tasks :-)

I've just downloaded BOINC 7.0.64 from the Berkeley website.
Looks a bit different alright.

You can always run CPU tasks if your notebook has trouble with GPU tasks.

Re: HCC (ati_hcc1) all tasks returned are INVALID

Another problem popped up.
After upgrading to BOINC 7 my proxy connection doesn't work anymore.
I've made sure the password is correct.
And it seems I can't go back to BOINC 6.xxx. It doesn't see any of my tasks.

Re: HCC (ati_hcc1) all tasks returned are INVALID

Hello zaschf
To go backwards to BOINC 6.10.58, you have to uninstall BOINC 7 and delete your files. Instead, I suggest you start posting the information from BOINC Manager so we can see what is going wrong with your proxy. I suggest looking at the Start Here FAQs to see how you can force BOINC Manager to start logging info about communication problems.

Thanks Lawrence,
Sorry that I was digressing toward BOINC Manager issues.
I'll follow the links you supplied.
