Re: TEAM Vulture Central III

To all team members. On your behalf I have today sent the following email to the webmaster at www.theregister.co.uk I hope I have acted correctly and I will keep you all informed of developments.

Quote:
Matt, I note that you carry a link at the bottom of your home page to direct readers to the Vulture teams at SETI and Grid.org. DC projects. Would it be possible to also include a link to Team Vulture Central III at World Community Grid?
Although we are a relatively small team we expect to reach the milestone of the equivalant to seven years processing time toward the above named project. Every member posting to the forum carries a link to either www.theregister.com or www.theregister.co.uk in our signatures, being proud to be associated with your fine magazine.
If you agree to our request, could we also ask if it would be possible to run a small article, indicating the inclusion of this project. We feel this would greatly enhance our standing and possibly attract some new members.
Further information regarding the project and team can be obtained from our Team Manager, John C. Foster(retsof), or from myself at the attached email address.
We hope this meets with your agreement.

Re: TEAM Vulture Central III

rets, my recommendation:

Try using some stats or numbers here. LOL!

Great job, folks! laughing
More members wouldn't hurt. Somebody who hasn't sent anything is our benchmark. He's #18.

Re: TEAM Vulture Central III

I've done a bit of research for the Team Manager 'elective post' we are being encouraged to create. In order to elect a Manager we need to look at the numbers involved and what constitutes a majority vote. Members input to this forum/team is as follows:-

retsof - active member - daily results
fingerle - active member - daily results
EvoDude - active member - daily results
HogeyMuir - active member - daily results

trevorcolby00 - last posting 19th Aug 2005 - occasional results
harrid3 - last posting 13th Jan 2005 - daily results

dalecook - No posts found - inactive
andybarker - No posts found - daily results
pistaccio - No posts found - daily results
Harry - No posts found - daily results

benjconrad - Name not found - daily results
mfreeth - Name not found - inactive
Nick Harlow - Name not found - inactive
singlers - Name not found - occasional results
pricey83 - Name not found - inactive
ghunt - Name not found - inactive
mel493 - Name not found - occasional results
Chris_mullard - Name not found - never

My proposal is as follows:-
All active members have expressed their wish to have retsof appointed Team Manager. As we have no way to communicate, other than in the two active forums, this post should be the Notice of Election. If after 7 days, no other member has posted his intention to stand for the position, we should consider retsof to be elected.
It is my intention to place a copy of this post in DCZone's Team Vulture III thread.
This situation has highlighted the fact that WCG should address the problem of inactive Team Captains. The current situation could result in teams being forced to run with departed/deceased Captains who are very unlikely to return and resign the post. Could WCG please consider this position and put forward a workable solution.

Seven days have now passed without any other candidate making themselves known and no dissenting voices in this thread. As the author I will now contact retsof, in the team thread, and let him know he has officially been elected Team Manager. I am sure all will wish to join me in congratulating him on this and we can look forward to having an excellent WCG member at the helm of our team.
retsof, can you arrange for this to be added to our WCG team page, I take it this will be a case of contacting administrators who can sort this out for us.
