BOINC reports it can not see this app's...
----------------------------------------<app_config> <app> <name>setiathome</name> <max_concurrent>1</max_concurrent> </app> <app> <name>astropulse_v6</name> <max_concurrent>1</max_concurrent> <gpu_versions> <gpu_usage>0.2</gpu_usage> <cpu_usage>0.2</cpu_usage> </gpu_versions> </app> </app_config> So what is wrong? I don't see a typo. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Apr 19, 2013 8:56:55 PM] |

Are you sure they are in the project folder for each project?
----------------------------------------You also have a conflict in the astropulse_v6 file. Your max concurrent tag is telling the GPU to run 1 task. The gpu_usage tag is telling it to run 5. You don't really need the max_concurrent tag for GPU crunching. Just use the gpu_usage tag to control the number of concurrent tasks you want to run.

BOINC reports it can not see this app's... <app_config> <app> <name>setiathome</name> <max_concurrent>1</max_concurrent> </app> Wrong application-name, where haven't been any application called setiathome since 2006 (except possibly for SETI@home beta). Instead, it's called setiathome_enhanced Also, in SETI@home it's normally better to use app_info.xml instead, and run optimized applications. ![]() "I make so many mistakes. setiathome_enhanced fixed the one issue. astropulse_v6 is still not recognized.

I think I solved the issue with Seti app_config.xml files. The <app> apparently need to be in an alphabetical order.
Seti is the first time I've come upon a project with multi-applications wanting to be listed in the app_config.xml file. Once I listed them in this order (alphabetically)... <app>astropulse_v6</app> <app>setiathome_enhanced<app> Then the error messages stopped. Go figure... |

Are you sure they are in the project folder for each project? You also have a conflict in the astropulse_v6 file. Your max concurrent tag is telling the GPU to run 1 task. The gpu_usage tag is telling it to run 5. You don't really need the max_concurrent tag for GPU crunching. Just use the gpu_usage tag to control the number of concurrent tasks you want to run. Nano - From what I can make out, while the 0.2C + 0.2ATI divides the GPU into 5 simultaneous taskings, <max_concurrent>1</max_concurrent> apparently tells the <app> it can only have 1 of the 5 taskings. This way you can work more different Project GPU tasks on the same GPU. In theory, you could have WCG, Seti, Milkyway, Einstein, and PrimeGrid* all working tasks off of one GPU. Of course, your Projects' Account has to be set to allow GPU tasking. I've done this with multi-projects. I just haven't done it with 5 yet. One hurdle at a time, please. It would be nice, if some respected member of this forum would verify this concept for anyone reading this thread (hint, hint). I know, OC has already proven it. Right? * not sure about PrimeGrid. Haven't verified them yet. |

IMHO running multiple GPU projects on the same GPU is not very effeicient. I tried and it caused tasks that would normally complete in 8 minutes to take 2 1/2 hours to finish.

I think I solved the issue with Seti app_config.xml files. The <app> apparently need to be in an alphabetical order. Well, I've never had any problem having setiathome_enhanced before astropulse_v505 in my app_info.xml atleast... ... Except it's probably roughly a year since astropulse_v6 was released and they stopped sending work to *v505 ![]() ![]() "I make so many mistakes. +1 and +1 for Ingleside and nanoprobe's suggestions ...
When running SETI download the optimized apps ... lots of info on this at SETI forums Run 1 GPU project at a time ... you can run one for a couple days, suspend work and then run the other for a coule days ... both at the same time is just trying to make things difficult :-) |
