I hope all is well--I have been in Texas the last week and can connect only thru my phone--flying back to Virginia Monday to reload and come back You've been rather occupied lately. I'd really not like the moving part of settling into a new place I like. I'm getting less good at putting up with hassles as I age!  Anyway, I hope the move is going well for you, at least as far as moves go (does it sound like I'm getting a tad set in my ways?  ). It's only July and I'm already ready to see the end of 2013. The way this year has gone is enough to make me begin to get superstitious. It would seem that beating cancer counts for some really serious karma points when it comes to the law of averages. Like they say though, the only constant you can count on is change!  |

Got some beta wu's today. Haven't checked what they were for, yet, but there were four of them. Yea, I got a bunch too. Got me almost a day closer to silver on Beta. They were all for the new FAAH on VINA. My first reaction was hoping they were for the upcoming new cancer project so it was a bit disappointing to find they weren't. Between the end of HCC and summer here, our numbers are WAY down, even compared to the pre-GPU HCC days. Looks like WCG is hurting with the end of so many projects. So many folks came in during the project feast-time and don't have any memory of the 2-3 projects times. WCG is losing some crunchers. Since the new cancer project is from the same folks as before, I'm hoping they'll have GPU for the new one as well. I admit the VINA on Android beta is interesting but have to wonder about the practicallity of that sort of crunching, at least in terms of smartphones, given the possible cost hit with the bandwidth and keeping the thing charged. Tablets may be another story those since they're like laptop 2.0 now. The older I get, the behinder I get! Finally got a digital camera last Xmas. Maybe a smartphone is next. |

I got four betas for faah that have been valid for several days now. The name starts with BETA_FAHV_ -- I think that is for VINA but I don't know what that is.

Yes, those are for the FAAH VINA beta. As I understand things, I think VINA is the science app that BOINC uses to process WUs. Several of the WCG projects use/have used VINA.
