[RESOLVED] SSL connect error

Hi,

Just noticed one of my machines doesn't seem to have communicated with the server for 196 days... Had a look in the log and it is showing a non specific "SSL connect error" which means it isn't sending its completed units, nor able to get more (or update stats, which is why I noticed).

Has been running fine for a few years, don't believe anything drastic has changed...?

Log details below:

Re: SSL connect error

Hello Foom,
My first suggestion would be to do a complete uninstall, followed by installing a new copy of WCG BOINC 6.10.58 on your Microsoft XP system. After all, you are not running a GPU so you do not need the new features of BOINC 7. I am becoming uneasy (hopefully unjustly) about combining software with ultra-modern GPU expectations with an old system running XP.

Re: SSL connect error

Foom,

If the suggestion of Lawrence does not resolve, follow this post by knreed: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewpostinthread?post=323120

The path where to place the file is printed in the message log at start and looks like this:

5 25-03-2013 12:33 Data directory: F:\BOINC

(I've got a non-standard location specified, a BOINC only spindle)

After reading in the created/edited config file via the Advanced menu of BOINC Manager or restarting the client, post the complete message log from start to where upload fails, so we can read the debug messages.

ttyl

Re: SSL connect error

Lawrencehardin & Rob lank you for your help.

I uninstalled 7.0.28 and installed 6.12.34 and also cleared out the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\BOINC folder which doesn't get removed by the uninstaller.

That got it working fine. So in the interest of science I reinstalled 7.0.28 and fired it up again, I'll see if it communicates in a few hours once it has finished a piece of work.

I get the feeling that the \Application Data\ folder might have got a bit funky, so I'll just see what happens.

Thanks, again for your suggestions.
