Any chance this would happen?

Re: GPU HFCC would be cool

No. HFCC was not programmed to use GPUs. However, we can expect more scientists to plan research projects around GPUs in the future. The main problem is that the underlying algorithm needs to be a certain type to use GPUs whereas CPUs allow any type of algorithm. So project scientists need to make this decision right at the start when they pick the algorithm before they begin coding.

Just to quell speculation, I do not know of any currently expected GPU projects, though I can always hope for pleasant surprises.

Yeah. Now that the GPU platform have been battle tested with HCC, there will be GPU compatible research in the future. Besides, with the development of CUDA over the years (including the tools, availability of courses and students of parallel programming, information) more and more research are looking to utilize GPU if they can.

Hey Lawrence:
Since you or people you know have a heck of a lot better access to these folks than we do how about you sending a email to all of them saying something like this:
"Want your project done in 1/10th the time you'd expect?
I just happen yo know a couple hundred thousand paople with the means to make that happen."
You know, subtle..It always works.. biggrin
