I'm running BOINC 7.0.31 (x86) and it says message from server: The Help Conquer Cancer ATI GPU application cannot run on your graphics card. I checked the list for excluded graphics card and it is not part of it (it is a AMD Radeon 6490M), is there a reason why it can't run? Many thanks.

Post the messages for the log about your card and the AMD drivers.

One test is checking if OpenCL 1.1 is in place as minimum. Your log shows OpenCL 1.0. If drivers exist to bring it up to 1.1 I do not know and even then a first run could lead to a Kernel Time Exceed at start because the card is not fast enough, and rather limited with just 256MB memory. First things first though, get OpenCL 1.1 in place if it can be done.

Ok thank you for the help. I cannot upgrade to mountain lion because it won't work with a scanner I use (I upgraded before and had to downgrade back). I'll just stick with using the CPU then.

It is a lexmark 5200 series printer/scanner. When I connect to it via USB it is recognized but I can't scan/print. On the apple support page it says it's compatible with mountain lion but I guess not.
