New WCG-Specific Test Build (7.0.58)?

It seems that there's a new test build (7.0.58) specifically for WCG (Windows x86 only atm): http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_thread.php?id=6698&postid=48296 (Direct link: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dl/wcg_boinc_7.0.58_windows_intelx86.exe )

Is there any difference between this and BOINC's original build?

(I) Did say in another thread mentioning 7.0.57 and 7.0.58 *not* to use the WCG builds. It causes you tears if you upgrade further (have been in contact with devs over this), so you are warned, just as the change log thread does.

Re: New WCG-Specific Test Build (7.0.58)?

I installed the Linux version of 7.0.58 from the LocutusOfBorg ppa yesterday. It is not WCG specific. It seems to be running both CPU and GPU WCG tasks ok. I haven't yet experimented with configuration files or anything fancy.

I just installed the 7.0.58 version from the "gianfranco ppa" on Linux Mint 14 and so far it's working great.

Re: New WCG-Specific Test Build (7.0.58)?

The regular 7.0.58 x64 build is working fine for me on three PCs running Win7 64-bit. One runs two Nvidia cards on GPUGrid, another runs an HD 7770 on HCC along with three CPU cores on CEP2, and the last one runs 8 CPU cores on CEP2. I use a cc_config.xml to include/exclude GPUs as necessary, with no problems.

Sorry, didn't realise you've mentioned that somewhere else :(

But since this seems to be the first publicly available WCG-specific 7.x test build that is first mentioned in the BOINC's message board (the previous two hasn't been mentioned), I thought it deserved to have a thread of its own.

As for the WCG-specific build's own problems... not sure if this is one of those, but after I installed the BOINC's regular 7.0.58 over it, although the installer recognised and replaced it with the regular one, BOINC itself seems not to know its presence:
3/25/2013 10:36:06 AM |  | Version change (7.0.52 -> 7.0.58)

And I've installed several .5x builds between .52 and .58 too, but BOINC has certainly "forgotten" about that.

Well, since the machine that's got it installed is a spare one with low crunching power, it has only caused little effect to my crunching :)
