I'm not sure if this has been asked or how to find it if it has!
I used to have computer with dual processors and it ran two research projects simultaneously. So, I figured with this new computer having a quad, I should be running four at once. I get one. Any ideas? |

Based on his badges, I am guessing it is CEP2 only. There is the setting in Device profile. Click here http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/ms/device/viewDevices.do, open the Profile assigned to your computer and find this section on the bottom of the page:
----------------------------------------Project Specific Settings Number of workunits per host for The Clean Energy Project - Phase 2? 1 - Default The Clean Energy Project - Phase 2 is limited on how many workunits a computer can have downloaded at a time and what minimum bandwidth the computer must have in order to receive any workunits. Changing this value from the default of 1 will override both of these restrictions. and try to change it to "4". If this will not help, follow Scribe's advice Cheers ![]() ![]() Crunching@Home since January 13 2000. Shrubbing@Home since January 5 2006 ![]() |

Hello David Conklin,
Does your profile say to run 1005 of your cores? Are you running on the Maximum Output profile? (Assuming you are not running on a laptop, where you might choose a profile to reduce heat and power.) Lawrence |

---------------------------------------- Does your profile say to run 1005 of your cores? Wow, Lawrence you must think he has a whale of a machine - 1005 cores !!! On a more serious note under My Grid>Device Manager>Device Profile there is section called advanced options. Make sure the maximum processors is set to 4 and the processor usage is set to 100% of processors. If you are using version 6.2 of the software, then the number of processors used will be the lesser of the two fields below. If you are using a version before 6.2, then only the 'at most' field will be used. On multiprocessors, at most use: 4 processors On multiprocessors, use: 100 % of processors Cheers

@David Conklin
Welcome to the WCG forum. I used to have computer with dual processors and it ran two research projects simultaneously. So, I figured with this new computer having a quad, I should be running four at once. I get one. Any ideas? As was mentioned by:-- Scribe: we need to see the first few lines (I guess 33 lines?) of your message log which would help guide the search for an answer. -- branjo: what projects/WU are for crunching. @Sgt.Joe Off topic That has to be a typo. I'm betting what was meant was 100% -- the '5' came out because the shift-key was not pressed in keying the '%' resulting in '1005' Does your profile say to run 1005 of your cores? Wow, Lawrence you must think he has a whale of a machine - 1005 cores !!! ; ; andzgridPost#980 ; |

However, if he is doing CEP2 only...this may cause I/O problems. I have ran 4 or more on a few of my systems, but I couldn't tell you if there was a performance issue at the time since I wasn't keeping track. I would start in the BOINC software preferences and make sure that 100% of processors is selected. Sometimes by default BOINC will put this at 0 or some other number when first installed. I have seen it many of times, so wasn't just a fluke. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I was trying to be humorous. Cheers
