I re-opened a Resolved thread, but saw this new thread and will add it to this one:

Harvard has to clean the disk again, I think.

Re: Upload server out of disk space

There's a slightly earlier thread in the website support forum, but anyway, to make the pun, over at CEP2 they're rather full of themselves ;P

Re: Upload server out of disk space

There's 2 things to do now to prevent going idle at some point [when doing WCG only e.g.]

1) If running a mix of CEP2 and other sciences, temp suspend any Ready to Start CEP2 tasks and only unsuspend if you need to fetch more work to stay busy.

2) Bulk up in the cache for lots more and hope it gets fixed soon.

Why: Because the old BOINC problem will stick out it's nose at you when you have more 2 times more result uploads in hold than cores in your computer(s). There's no upload issue to Toronto, so any results going there would not cause a clogging.

Re: Upload server out of disk space

Hi everybody,
we are so sorry about this problem - we have started cleaning up the server first thing this morning and things should be back to normal very soon. But it is clearly our mess-up. We'll write some more about how this came about shortly. Again, our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused.
Best wishes from your
Harvard CEP team

Re: Upload server out of disk space

DUmeter sprung up on top from hidden with fat green bars... uploads are running at quasi normal speed [there will be a little more competition for the BW this moment].

Re: Upload server out of disk space

Don't know why I absolutely loath upload errors and tasks going south of no volunteers doing. Have one CEP2 _4 result that's now cycled several times from start to finish, the full 36MB repeatedly, and ending at 100% with:

457 World Community Grid 3/6/2013 7:22:14 PM Started upload of E212105_465_A.30.C24H15NS2Se2Si.101.1.set1d06_1_4
489 World Community Grid 3/6/2013 7:32:25 PM [error] Error reported by file upload server: EOF on socket read : asked for 16382, got 10
490 World Community Grid 3/6/2013 7:32:25 PM Temporarily failed upload of E212105_465_A.30.C24H15NS2Se2Si.101.1.set1d06_1_4: transient upload error
491 World Community Grid 3/6/2013 7:32:25 PM Backing off 1 hr 38 min 51 sec on upload of E212105_465_A.30.C24H15NS2Se2Si.101.1.set1d06_1_4

edit: It needed a full client restart to stop this cycle... on next try it went through. Tired of this BOINC communication business, today something coming to light at SETI that was documented resolvable in 1992, yes 1992. "Robust" is not the word to apply, when it should be. Now we have users modding their computer because of communication weaknesses in the program. http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=71002 [use at own peril]. We definitely need in the smiley table.

Re: Upload server out of disk space

I tried logging out and logging back in (which I thought stopped and restarted the BOINC process), but that didn't work. So I rebooted the PC and am still getting:

03/06/2013 17:22:42 World Community Grid Temporarily failed upload of E212150_167_C.32.C27H14N2S2Se.00132536.0.set1d06_0_4: HTTP error
03/06/2013 17:22:42 World Community Grid Backing off 32 min 8 sec on upload of E212150_167_C.32.C27H14N2S2Se.00132536.0.set1d06_0_4

[Edit: Another failed with the following, so I increased the number of workunits from 2 to 4 to get this machine crunching again.

03/06/2013 17:28:44 World Community Grid Temporarily failed upload of E212141_163_A.33.C26H14N2O2S3.22.2.set1d06_0_4: transient upload error
03/06/2013 17:28:44 World Community Grid Backing off 2 hr 14 min 11 sec on upload of E212141_163_A.33.C26H14N2O2S3.22.2.set1d06_0_4
