Uh-oh. I just equate BOINC with WCG. And I dl the new version - had no idea about the risk. Don't have time to haunt the forums to see what people think, so I guess I'll go hunt for the previous version.

Well, my new version is 7.0.31, which came out last July, so maybe it's OK by now. 7.0.52 is beta.

BOINC 7.0.31 is the minimum for most new features in BOINC 7. 7.0.4* has some nice additional fixes for the newest commands, which you have to haunt the forums to read about. So you are doing very well.
