This job has it's good times (like now) and it's bad times....I am the only instrument tech on site in the plant right now and probably will be the only one all day unless something really major breaks...And this is no small site or company either (800 million dollar company)...

morning people
bit more RAM added to drone2 overnight, had some memory problems with one of the sticks, solved and back up and running processed 3 units overnight which i was surprised at, each taking just over 3 hours which seems much better, think i'll add some more slots tho - 10 just isn't enough at these speeds |

Never a late one for me unless I want it to be...My relief comes in at 4 and since we already work 12 hour days the company does not force you to stay even if there is a major problem....On a second note, more ram is always a good thing...I run at least a gig in all my machines...

can't afford the 1gig of which you speak, but i run .5 usually as these dedictaed ones do nothing but crunch
question anyone know what it means when the motherboard (or something) emits 2 quick beeps followed by 1 quick beep? what ever it is it won't load to windows |

thanks, at least that may narrow things down, will try another RAM swop out (seems to be all i'm doing at the moment) if that don't work its no problem the motherboard is from the mid-1990's so its well past its dead-by date

ok
----------------------------------------swopped out the RAM, changed the GFX card and works now shows Pri Master HDD Error Sec Master CD - ATAPI Incompatable Run Setup Press F1 to continue pressing F1 tells me there is no operating system (duhhh - since the HDD errored) swopped HDD; tested; error message again swopped CD drive; tested; same error message now just 1 beep on startup before going to above error message = "System RAM Refresh failure...your motherboard will need to be replaced to fix it." lilsmap just wants to keep JC company a coupla days......beep errors, they depend somewhat on the board.
