WU: GFAM_ x2C07_ Bamb_ PfOAR_ 9WATs_ 0071971_ 0257_ 0--
----------------------------------------While this WU was still running, I noticed that it was showing as about 80% complete after only about 18 min. The computer normally takes about 3h to complete GFAM WUs. To force the WU to be checked by another computer, I aborted it at 99% complete and 25m15s elapsed time, at about 02:15 UTC 5 Feb 2013. The result log for my copy of the WU shows that the first 8 sub-jobs ran and exited normally but after only quite short times. The Results page for the WU is still not showing a repair copy even waiting to be sent, about 4.5 hours after my non-result was returned. Here are the last few lines of the result log: [13:12:17] Vina exited normal 0. [13:12:17] Finished task #8 cpu time used 264.452895 [13:12:17] Starting task 9,CPU time is 1267.461325. [13:12:17] ./ZINC71283851.pdbqt size = 29 5 ../../projects/www.worldcommunitygrid.org/gfam.x2C07_Bamb_PfOAR_9WATs.pdbqt size = 9570 0 Abort requested: Exiting --------- I have posted this early rather than later, in case the result scrolls off my viewable results pages. Aborting a task at 99% indicated progress to find out if a wingman gets successfully through it... that's a novel member report to me.
Recently commented on by tech for GFAM or another science v.v. these interspersed shorties. Some are just an end of serial compound products... left over dockings, like 1000 divided by 90 giving a remaining result that contains 10. If it validates it validates, if it borgs multiple times by wingman too, it's broken. It would have been declared pending-verification with a new copy send out, but if you do not trust the validators, then watch your wingman now to get the credit, and yours not. |

I hadn't seen one of these "shorties" previously & thought it should be brought to attention.
----------------------------------------Sometimes it's the outliers that provide important information and even breakthroughs. I had not seen the tech's comment re. their occasional occurrence. I thought that if my result for this WU seemed interesting, it would have to be re-run to check that it wasn't just due to a problem at my end. By aborting it, I've caused that to happen without the techs or researchers having to take special action. Yes it would have had to pass validation, but is that process 100.0% trusted for zero redundancy? My decision to abort the WU would probably have been different if I'd been crunching it for 10+ hrs, but wasting 25 min is no big deal. 2 repair copies of the WU are now In Progress. [Edit]: 1 still IP, the other PV after normal completion in 0.48 hrs. So just a short WU. [/Edit] [Edit 1 times, last edit by Rickjb at Feb 5, 2013 11:54:29 PM] |

Long have chosen when sporadic or even less, rare, that it's really not the member's problem. The techs run the statistics for error frequency, the scientists analyze out if there are too many outliers, and if these outliers have a commonality needing investigation. In short, whilst observance of anomalous behavior is appreciated, it's not our beer whether we should wonder... is it save, or is it safe to trust the validator?
