It downloaded one work unit and recognized 10GB then went into checking it's self again and lost the 10GB reading.

You have told Bionc to save 75 GB of your hard drive and you ony have 72.37 free, so it is doing as told, in preferances. disk tab, leave at least xxx Disk free is set to 75, change it to something else < 60

NAP1614,
The file content is correct, a little scrambled, show as per what fredski pulled from it to leave 75GB free. The option in the Computing/Local preferences "disk and memory usage" tab will read "Leave at least 75.00 Gigabytes disk space free". The math of BOINC works always in favor of what *not* to use, so the 75GB Free supersedes the 10GB you allow "at most". Suggest you change that value to 10GB also, unless you have a specific reason to always have 75GB free for non-BOINC storage. Related wiki for sample screens and explanation of what each field does: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/Local_preferences the second field. Propose to set it to 10 GB for both the top 2 fields. BOINC will rarely never use 10GB, but just in case the future brings on a monster project. My 8 core with 3 day buffer is using 1.8 GB momentarily. (The Disk tab in BOINC Manager shows how much each project uses). ![]() Let us know if things now do get down to crunching proper. |

I wish to thank you all. All it does now, in messages, is keep recycling benchmarks. You have done all you can without me shipping the thing to you.
----------------------------------------I'll close this out and quit using up your time. Cheers nap ![]() |

That's a pity... it by all appearances only needed that one field to be set down from 75GB to 10GB "Leave at least xx Gigabytes disk space free". You could even exit BOINC and edit with notepad that global_prefs_override.xml file and change <disk_min_free_gb>75.000000</disk_min_free_gb> to
<disk_min_free_gb>10.000000</disk_min_free_gb> Save the file, maiking sure the file does not change name, then start BOINC again (or boot computer to auto-restart). When you feel up to it again, let us know... someone is always here to help out. |

Greetings,
----------------------------------------![]() change <disk_min_free_gb>75.000000</disk_min_free_gb> to <disk_min_free_gb>10.000000</disk_min_free_gb> This worked, but found the "OK" button on bottom of Preference Page was not saving my settings. Thank you for presenting this option. Many Thnx N. Computers are like children. When you get them up in the Morning, you have no idea what mess they will get into by night fall. ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by NAP2614 at Feb 5, 2013 3:15:04 AM] |
