Greetings,
I had this problem show up in a different device. i deleted a stdoutdae(old) and all was well. This device isn't acting the same and will not download new work. The disc graphs are OK Local prefs are cleared. What ever happened it did it by it's self. It is probably a coincidence, but this all started when it ran out of work during the massive outage.

Re: max disc usage 0.00GB

Hello NAP2614,
I trust that you will change School to Max Disk Usage 10.0 GB?

Re: max disc usage 0.00GB

Lawrence,
That is the problem, it won't. It tries to tell me there is 20GB of data in programdata files. There isn't and now programdata files has disappeared and can be found nowhere. I have done all the show files etc. and no joy.

Re: max disc usage 0.00GB

In File Explorer go to C:\ProgramData right click the BOINC folder and run a size filter for instance on large, huge, gigantic [W7 options]. There are 71GB free on the disk, but the limit set on the BOINC disk permission is exhausted [set to zero per your log].

If you open Computing preferences [BOINC in Advanced view, on the Tools menu], and disk/memory usage tab, it will tell how much you've allowed. Modify that to 10GB [BOINC default], or hit Clear button so the web profile can resume control, but the log says there are no local preferences, just the ones from the school web profile.

But, suggest you boot the computer first so all memory states are refreshed and run the BOINC installer with the "repair" option, then let us know if something started moving.

Re: max disc usage 0.00GB

SekRob, thank you very much for helping. I did every step, you said to do, more than once, to make sure. The entire BOINC folder added up to 222.6 MB. There were no files larger than "Large" I shifted back to Pref and left the "Clear" button alone. I set the device to Default with Std. settings and FAAH. Trying to make things simple.
I checked my main computer and it has 556MB in the Boinc folder, quite a difference.

Re: max disc usage 0.00GB

Can you please make a screenshot of the Local Preferences, Disk and Memory settings screen and post that. According the message log, there is now a [local] preference recorded, which is signified by this line:

2/3/2013 1:02:37 PM Reading preferences override file

Also, if you open up C:\ProgramFile\BOINC and find the global_prefs_override.xml with notepad or wordpad and post a copy, we can see if the screenshot and the actual preference file match, or is maybe corrupt somehow [very unlikely].

Re: max disc usage 0.00GB

Hi NAP2614,
This is practically solved. You are using the Default setting which allows 10 GB Disk Usage, but you have:
2/3/2013 1:02:37 PM Reading preferences override file
2/3/2013 1:02:37 PM Preferences:
2/3/2013 1:02:37 PM max memory usage when active: 1528.12MB
2/3/2013 1:02:37 PM max memory usage when idle: 1833.74MB
2/3/2013 1:02:37 PM max disk usage: 0.00GB

This means that your preferences override file is set to 0.0 GB Disk Usage. Just bring up BOINC Manager and click on Advanced - Preferences - disk and memory usage and set 'Use at most 0.0 Gigabytes disk space' to 10.0 from 0.0. Then click on OK to save the change.
