I realize that project is a very tech driven project involving scientists and engineers.
However, we need to have some marketing input to make this beautiful idea a reality for more and more people. One of the ways to ensure that the project is visible, is to get it properly indexed by all the main search engines. Three things need to be done: 1. Enhance key words - include words like cancer, wcg, cancer cure, crunching, protein folding and others. CRUNCHERS - PLEASE SEND IN YOUR PROPOSALS - how you would google for the wcg. I realize that grid will eventually get a new project - but HEY _ when that happens, just change the key words, so that the association with the cancer project changes. At present all we have as meta keywords is: World Community Grid, Technology Solving Problems 2. Register the grid into different catalogues on search engines and portals - google, yahoo, etc.... I am sure the IBM guys can use some leverage here.... and if they can't, then ....... let them ask how to.... I am certain a lot of suggestions will come up! 3. Banner exchange program - a lot of people have personal sites and blogs - if we can get some graphics available, then people will be more than happy to pump traffic across to the grid and expose the grid to their friends and casual passer byes. Who is in charge of marketing at wcg? I have asked this question before and never received a response! |

I would imagine when many people hear about this sort of project...the term they would google for is "Distributed Computing."

Am I missing something here? Are keywords no longer important in defining the way search engines rank your?
