Re: Your most annoying computer fans

AH, hahaha! You have fallen for the classic fan trap - the false hope factor. They'll behave for a little while and make you THINK that they're behaving, but they're no better than cats. As soon as you turn your back, leave the room, switch off the machine or whatever and come back, voila, the noise will be back.

And because you thought the problem was fixed, it will be especially annoying and make you especially stabby.

It's psychological warfare my friend. Make no mistake about it. shame on you

Re: Your most annoying computer fans

My custom Windows 7 rig seems to handle the noise well enough while maintaining 27 degrees celsius.

My Mac makes no noise, but you can fry an egg on it if you have multiple BOINC tasks running simultaneously.

Re: Your most annoying computer fans

The fans in my Dell 1950 and 2950 sound like a jet taking off when I fire them up. They are even loud in cruise mode. Hence they are banished to an out building where they can annoy no one. Even when I had them in the basement I could hear them in the rest of the house. If they had stayed there, all domestic peace and tranquility would have been lost.
Cheers
