I planned to leave the country for 2 weeks before I started my job too. When I was negotiating on a start date, I told them 1 month. 2 weeks notice to my old job, 2 weeks vacation. They wanted me to start ASAP so I negotiated with them to allow me 2 weeks off (unpaid) anytime during my first year. I took the vacation about 2.5 months into the job and everything worked out well. I got a job when I wanted to, and I still got my vacation.
I would start looking and tell them of your situation. Do you REALLY have to get out? Or you want to get out of the country for a vacation after college? You can always take a vacation later... it's harder to get a job than to get time off IMO. |

interesting viewpoint...
yep, i really have to get out...and can't do anything about timing... parent's 25th wedding anniversary, so they're getting re-wed in my mother's home country since most of her family there didn't get to see them get married the first time...all the family here is going, would seem a tad awkward that everyone else was there but the daughter was missing...lol. |
