We are going to be installing additional memory on our database servers. There will be two short outages of the website and forums during this work that should last 5-10 minutes. There will also be two short outages of the grid that should last 10-15 minutes each. The work should be completed within a four hour period of time.

We are going to be doing the following steps on this change. We have two database servers. In normal conditions we run DB2 which supports the forums and website on server 1 and we run MySQL which supports BOINC on server 2. They are sized so that we can run both databases on a single server in the event of a server failure.
The change will consist of the following steps: 1) Failover DB2 from server 1 to server 2 2) Shutdown server 1, installed memory, start server and verify 3) Failover DB2 and MySQL from server 2 to server 1 4) Shutdown server 2, installed memory, start server and verify 5) Failover MySQL from server 1 to server 2 [using extra RAM] We just completed step #1 |
