INFO: Converting 22 Jan grid outage time to [ my ] time zone

Seeing as I always have to look up what the heck something or other time UTC/GMT/Zulu is in my local time, thought I'd share some links to on-line time converters:

World Time Buddy
TimeAndDate Converter

As it is a little hinky to convert in your head when converting a UTC time involves shifting days too, here's the outage start time converted for the U.S. time zones:

UTC / GMT, Universal / Greenwich Time (scheduled outage start in UTC)
3:00a Tue, Jan 22 2013

EST / EDT, Eastern Standard Time (US) (note that start time is previous day!)
10:00p Mon, Jan 21 2013

CST / CDT, Central Standard Time (US) (note that start time is previous day!)
9:00p Mon, Jan 21 2013

MST / MDT, Mountain Standard Time (US) (note that start time is previous day!)
8:00p Mon, Jan 21 2013

PST / PDT, Pacific Standard Time (US) (note that start time is previous day!)
7:00p Mon, Jan 21 2013

ANCHORAGE, United States, Alaska (note that start time is previous day!)
6:00p Mon, Jan 21 2013

HONOLULU, United States, Hawaii (note that start time is previous day!)
5:00p Mon, Jan 21 2013

(This is a direct link to the above view from World Time Buddy. The graphical representation may be clearer for you.)

Further note that I am "assuming" ( blushing ) the 03:00 (3:00 AM) start time...the notifications all say 3:00 UTC which doesn't "technically" differentiate between A.M. and P.M., but when you use UTC times assuming a 24-hour clock is a generally accepted practice. The end time of the outage would be 24 hours after the start time per the notices, of course. tongue

Hopefully this is useful information for those who cache less than 24 hours of work locally and so might wish to temporarily increase their cache some random number of hours prior to the start of the outage to avoid running dry.

Good Idea steve.

Not as elegant or detailed as your options but:

For anyone who lives in another timezone You can double check your time against WCG time by googling "UTC time" which gives the UTC Time NOW allowing you to check your local time against it. (just to be sure that it is what you thought it was wink )
