Is there a reason that HCC uses an entire CPU tread with a GPU ? GPUGRID uses 1/2 a thread so that if you are running more than one GPU I.E four GPUs you only use 2 CPUs and not four. That leas the other CPUs available for additional work.

Yes as not doing so by default causes tasks to often crash on the not so powerful systems. You're free to config to reserve just part of a CPU core through using the old app_info.xml ** method on clients prior to 7.0.42 or through the app_config.xml for clients from 7.0.42 [much easier]. See other threads for discussion of either 2 methods in either the GPU, HCC or BOINC support forums.
----------------------------------------** app_info will be prohibited by WCG sometime after WCG endorses a 7.0.xx version with the app_config feature. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Jan 11, 2013 4:52:33 PM] |
