A] An SN2S_v6.20-CPU-WU elapsed-time keeps resetting.
----------------------------------------=========================--------------------------------- Details of the SN2S_v6.20-CPU-WU: name: SN2S_AAX30013_0000143_0593_0 reverted_elapsed-time: 02:04:54 reverted remaining-time: 00:04:15 BOINC_7.0.42 event-log message: World Community Grid | Restarting task SN2S_AAX30013_0000143_0593_0 using sn2s version 620 in slot 3 The above message kept repeating every 10-11 seconds. On reset, the elapsed-time and remaining-time reverted to the value indicated in 'reverted_elapsed-time' and 'reverted_remaining-time' respectively. I've tried each of the following and combinations thereof but the issue wouldn't go away: 1] Suspend-resume the SN2S-WU. 2] Effect, through the app_config, so that only the SN2S-WU is running. 3] Effect, through the app_config so that only 1 (HCC) GPU-WU is running. <note1> 3] Restart, Reboot, proper-close and improper-close. In desperaton, I aborted the WU -- which appeared to have succeeded: I no longer see the WU since. B] An HCC_v7.08-GPU-WU doesn't clear the 'Uploading' status =========================--------------------------------------- Details of the HCC_v7.08-GPU-WU: name: X0930093110815200710171221_1 elapsed-time: 00:05:36 I've tried aborting the WU and also tried suspend-resume as well having hit the update-button with various network settings (Network activity always available, and the 'Network activity suspended). This WU's entry in BOINC_7.0.42's 'Tasks' panel remains stuck there. Could the WCG-servers be called to do an 'abort' of the WU and if that would remove the WU from the 'Tasks' panel? C] Ubu12.10 desktop occasionally locks up =========================--------------- I had one happen about an hour ago. It also happened when I leave the machine alone while it crunches. When the lockup occurs, all, except the mouse -- are frozen, including the CTRL-ALT-DELETE. I was left with no recourse but to pull the plug. This may have caused, complicated, else contributed to the issues indicated at A] and B] above. Notes: <note1> I could not effect in app_config to have zero HCC-GPU-WU tasks running. There are a number of 'strange' things I have observed in app_config which deserves a separate post/thread. I'll post it as soon as I complete the write-up. ; ; andzgridPost#775 ; [Edit 2 times, last edit by Former Member at Jan 1, 2013 11:26:32 PM] |

Update to andzgridPost#775 for Section B] An HCC_v7.08-GPU-WU doesn't clear the 'Uploading' status
World Community Grid | Not requesting tasks: some task is suspended via Manager The task referred to is: X0930093110815200710171221_1 -- which is a task indicated by BOINC_v7.0.42 as completed with an elapsed-time of 05:36 but the status of 'Uploading' appears stuck and can't seem to be cleared. When I next clicked on the 'Resume' button with the above task selected, BOINC_v7.042 then shows...World Community Grid | Sending scheduler request: To fetch work. Only then was my machine able to download fresh WUs from WCG.; ; andzgridPost#779 ; |

andzgrid,
Have you encountered most of these issues from a fresh install of BOINC? Meaning no app_config file. I have not tried to modify the app config file, but have you tried to set the gpu_usage to 1.5 something above 1. Also, on your lockups, are you getting this while running more than one GPU unit at a time. Do you encounter it when running a stock boinc install running at 100%? I'm curious if there is a heat issue causing the computer to lock up. Thanks, -Uplinger |

Hello uplinger and thanks for the response.
Have you encountered most of these issues from a fresh install of BOINC? Meaning no app_config file. I haven't tried running BOINC_v7.0.42 without using an app_config, so the issues I reported were under a case where an app_config is used (either properly or improperly).I have not tried to modify the app config file, but have you tried to set the gpu_usage to 1.5 something above 1. Nope, the values I experimented with for the GPU-usage are 1.0, 0.5, and 0.25 -- no values were above 1.Also, on your lockups, are you getting this while running more than one GPU unit at a time. Do you encounter it when running a stock boinc install running at 100%? I'm curious if there is a heat issue causing the computer to lock up. I have set up my machine to load and run two GPU-WUs at a time which seems to be the optimum for my set-up, and that goes with some but tolerable UI lag. At three-concurrent GPU-WUs, the UI lag is severe. At four-concurrent GPU-WUs, my Radeon HD7770 falls to its knees and the UI freezes. All these under stock clock. Recalling things now, I was doing much visual-oriented stuff just before the said lockups: lots of visual-UI elements involved like pics opened, many opened browser-windows and frequent webpage-refresh, etc. During non-use, yes, it may have been heat issues. Took care of the cooling and moderated my use of visuals and the machine is holding steady thus far.P.S. I'm completing my write-up about my experience in using the app_config. Until that time, here's a sample item. Guess how many GPUtasks should run with the app_config below: ================================== <app><name>hcc1</name> <max_concurrent>0</max_concurrent> <gpu_versions> <gpu_usage>0</gpu_usage> <cpu_usage>0</cpu_usage> </gpu_versions> </app> ================================== ; ; andzgridPost#787 ; |

0 I would think woyld be unlimited as to what the gpu can do unsure about the cpu thou

Does it look like low totals for everyone today?

0 I would think woyld be unlimited as to what the gpu can do unsure about the cpu thou Thanks txyankee and nanoprobe for your guesses.-- from txyankee None, for various reasons I would guess. -- from nanoprobe The answer is... drum roll... 2 Now how did that 2 happen? is indeed the question. The same question I asked myself, and... How did the BOINC_7.0.42 know what my target config truly is even if zeroes are fed in all parameters at my app_config? Someone have fed a '2' to the WCG-servers for my account? Else the logic is intriguing... Hmm... ![]() ; ; andzgridPost#790 ; |

Does it look like low totals for everyone today? Yes. Validators seem to be way behind for some reason.

Same for me. Way low than expected. When validators will pick up the slack we may get some record daily numbers
