Something up with this project that requires constant connection? I shut off the connection so I could game on my xbox, came back a few hours later and found all my wu's aborted. Am using the app_config file to crunch this project and HCC1. HCC1 was not affected.

Now that just should not happen. My guess is that it might be a problem that can be cured by rebooting. Lawrence |

I left it crunching but just disabled network. Never happened before. I'll reboot and try closing network tomorrow to see if it happens again.

Disabled networking today with no issues. Maybe the reboot worked.

Hello Bearcat.
Something up with this project that requires constant connection? My view is kind of leaning towards that conclusion but for BOINC itself, rather than for any specific project-WUs handled by BOINC. Anyways, I recall having ran into a situation where BOINC defaults to 'Network activity always available' where it seems more sensible else safer that BOINC defaults to 'Network always suspended' unless indicated otherwise by the user and only for the current session.... found all my wu's aborted. Am using the app_config file to crunch this project and HCC1. HCC1 was not affected. I'm just curious, was there a message in the event-log that indicated that there occurred abortions?; ; andzgridPost#778 ; |

Shows task (name) not started and past deadline. All my HCC1 wu's kept going though. I know they had plenty of time to finish. Have cache set at min 1 day and max 3. Boinc must have got confused. My clock is correct though.

If you are using a newer version of BOINC the event(message) log is located under advanced - should be the bottom one.

My clock is correct though. (Emphasis by andzgrid) Hmm... could be a case of 'abandoned' WUs, and if (and only if) the WCG-server has had a hand in that, could there be 'aborted by server' WUs -- in which case, and here I go again, an explicit statement referring to the situation should have been given (by BOINC). Anyways, I guess it's one of those 'it's just another day' things.; ; andzgridPost#781 ; |
