Recently migrated from windows 7 to Red Hat Linux
----------------------------------------I have downloaded & installed BOINC agent for Linux while following the steps mentioned on www.worldcommunitygrid.org BOINC agent starts perfectly, while trying to connect to my project, on just clicking the "Add to Project" button agent crashes, tried lots of tweaks from google search but no use! On clicking "Add to Account Manager" , after entering the URL - "www.worldcommunitygrid.org" & my user name/password , it throws an error "Account Manager Error:file not found" [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Dec 11, 2012 9:40:26 AM] |

World Community Grid does not support the BOINC Account Manager so your only chance is Attach To Project. I am clueless about Red Hat Linux, but here is a thread I found using Red AND Hat AND Linux in Search: https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,24121

Thanks lawrencehardin
Though that URL was not of much help, but figured out the solution :-) Go to the BOINC directory in linux & execute the following command ./boinccmd --project_attach www.worldcommunitygrid.org <Account Key> <Account Key> looks something like this 109e275c90cdad8445655435f96063a339d, it is listed under My profile>account key on www.woldcommunitygrid.org Will keep on exploring & helping others to use it on Linux |

Yes, you found it. boinccmd is the tool when BOINC Manager causes problems, for whatever reason [I am using it a lot on my Linux system to avoid having to start up a graphical session]. This Start Here FAQ expands a bit on your solution: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewpostinthread?post=164717
Crunch On P.S. Please edit OP title insert [RESOLVED] in title, as I did to this post. Then people know there's a fix on offer. |
