Don't know, since the HCC-GPU app is written for OpenCL, not CUDA. Think proper OpenCL detection did not start until v7, so in your case with a dual card config of NVidia it might be necessary to upgrade. Maybe other members have advise on how to config with v6.10 to stop HCC taking your GPU0
Personally, I'd switch the GT220(Make that GPU#0) and GT430 (make that GPU#1), as latter is the more capable crunching card, where the GT220 is a good display card. [per my previous post] My GT220 definitely fails on HCC-GPU [OpenCL 1.0, not the required 1.1], so maybe you may want to set the <use_all_gpus>0</use_all_gpus> which then automatically would select only your most powerful card... not enables your GT220 for BOINC, but then I don't know what else you crunch besides WCG or if gaming requires you to have the GT430 as GPU0. An upgrade to v7 may resolve this all. |

My results (with the GT430 GPU, gpu#0) are OK, no errors with HCC nvidia and pretty fast. I think the GT220 didn't try a HCC task yet, but there is no reason (except compute capability limit) that the GT220 would not achieve a HCC task.
I see that tasks sent to my BOINC client, have in their name 'hcc_nvidia_cuda708' (more or less). Then, I think that it's not OpenCL specific only, but nvidia. I'll try to switch the card (by the .xml config file) to see if those tasks crash with the GT220 card. Going with Windows is not an option for me, sorry. And the GT220 have a bug, when using it on GPU#0 : the Nvidia Power Mizer option freeze the X server, and it's ok with the GT430. So the GT430 have to be in GPU #0 slot. The two card crunches when I'm not using my computer, then almost all the time, no need to switch them :-). I see with other tasks and let you know. Thanks for answers. |

Longer ago I played with the Power Mizer and disabled it.
Don't know what Linux version you run [I've progressed to 12.10 Ubuntu], under which the GT220 does an excellent job for me. Check out the Synaptic repository on latest version, or one of the other maintainer ppa's such as LocutusofBorg. I'm running latters 7.0.39 port under Linux 12.10 [Skip 7.0.40 as already superseded]. He's got versions back to about Ubuntu Hardy. If I gave the impression [or said] we were talking windows, sorry. Linux-64 is great, particularly with the VINA sciences. 60-70% faster than Windows. |

Thanks for advices. I'm under 10.04 64bits, and I will go for the 12.04 in a few weeks, and I will test with newer Boinc client version.
----------------------------------------:-) P.S. : I misunderstood your 'v7', I read Windows Seven, not v7 of Boinc, sorry. [Edit 1 times, last edit by [AF>Libristes]Maeda at Dec 10, 2012 1:33:05 PM] |

You are right, I just checked, some tasks are crashing with errors, and some don't.
----------------------------------------This comes from the GT220 for sure... I have to see how I can tell HCC to use only the GT430 :-/ edit : an example : CL_DEVICE_NAME: Quadro FX 380 LP Why does it see a Quadro FX instead of GT220 ??? You have the same kind of errors with your gt220 ? [Edit 1 times, last edit by [AF>Libristes]Maeda at Dec 10, 2012 6:38:54 PM] |

ubuntu 12.10 x64. ATI 7770. fglrx-updates installed from repos. client ver.7.0.28. Downloaded and installed latest AMD-APP SDK from

Now I see additional task running (with "1 CPUs + 1 ATI GPU" text) update1: some gpu tasks end with an error update2: desktop interface responsiveness decreased To get rid of that should I switch to latest catalyst 12.11 which is beta? update3: currently I have 5% of errors for gpu tasks. And it seems like it's decreasing update4: system hangs sometimes. It happens when gpu task tries to resume after suspend. But rather resuming works and gpu task is computed from where it had stopped due to suspend. [Edit 6 times, last edit by Former Member at Dec 20, 2012 10:23:23 AM] |

I got also these problems with my new bought Radeon HD 6670!
----------------------------------------I opened up a new bug reports about this behaviour: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/boinc/+bug/1077316 So please add yourself to this bug and give a hand in solving this problem.

----------------------------------------"no usable gpu found" problem is well known for years. And if you have ati you got that issue almost 100%. I decided not to wait for decision here. I install manually boinc to my home dir and add to "startup applications" '/home/BOINC/run_client --daemon' string. Then to run boinc-manager I type ./run_managerfrom /home/BOINC/ dir [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Dec 18, 2012 5:18:58 PM] |

Yes, but i seems a quiet bigger problem, look at #6.
----------------------------------------After stopping all processes GPU does not work correct! But i will try an manually installation of BOINC and test this out. Thanks for the hint.
