We're sure many would want to help, except, there's no OS-X version yet, as is there no Linux release [development is close since both are *nix based]. When? Subscribe to the Beta Support Read only forum and you'll be the first to know when techs post on a public test.

Re: Help me use my GPU on my Apple MacPro?

As long as the card is on the supported list, it will be used by WCG if you boot into Windows using Boot Camp.

I just installed an AMD 6870 in my 2008 Mac Pro and it takes about 8 minutes a (double-sized) work unit when I'm booted into Windows 7.

Important to note that if you're running Windows inside Parallels or VMWare , the GPU is not available for crunching.

Any Windows-supported video card can be run in a Mac Pro as long as you can supply enough power to it, but Mac OS will only support specific cards.

Some cards like the 6870 can be flashed to include EFI support for better support within Mac OS. The functionality under Windows is unchanged.

Instructions are at netkas.org, be forewarned that flashing your video card might involve a lot of trial and error.

Re: Help me use my GPU on my Apple MacPro?

Thanks for the tip smwood, maybe I will use it in future (if more GPU applications appear in WCG).

Anyway, it (buying windows) is another expense what can be used for purchasing better hardware sad

Cheers and NI!

Agreed, and to be honest the upgrade to Win7 was just to play Crysis 2 on DirectX 11 and to be ready for Crysis 3. Being able to finish a few thousand HCC tasks is just an added bonus!

The AMD 6870 was $149 on newegg and Windows 7 64-bit was $127 on amazon. Not a bad upgrade for a 4-year old computer.
