I've been getting this for a few hours. I know there is a lot going on with the servers right now and am wondering if this is related.
----------------------------------------Win7 x64, BOINC 7.0.28, No app_info. I have both 6.56 and 7.05 in my queue for both cpu and gpu tasks. 11/16/2012 6:06:47 PM | World Community Grid | Reporting 1 completed tasks, requesting new tasks for CPU and NVIDIA 11/16/2012 6:04:51 PM | World Community Grid | [error] Can't parse workunit in scheduler reply: unexpected XML tag or syntax 11/16/2012 6:04:51 PM | World Community Grid | [error] No close tag in scheduler reply I've bumped up the 6.56 to run next to see if clearing them out will help (lord knows the project doesn't need any more aborted WUs). Hello Snow Crash
Reference: Snow Crash [Nov 16, 2012 11:09:01 PM] post I first saw such message* in my BOINC_v7.0.28 event-log on 2012.11.10Sat.1526utc. I surmise that it was a part of an interim-measure to control the interaction-rate with clients given that GPU-WUs take so little time to complete and the WCG-servers are flooded with having to synchronize with those messages. It worked out fine regardless of the setting** of the communication-mode. No issues on my end thus far regardless of the (existence or non-existence) of the message, no issues that I can detect anyway that may conceivably be attributed to the said message. ; Notes: *With identical syntax but not identical content: mine involving ATI and not nVidia. **Communication-modes: Network activity always available, Network activity based on preferences, and Network activity suspended. ; |

Well it's been going on for hours and I'm not getting new WUs and will run dry shortly. I have all communication lines open all the time, I have buffers set appropriately to reduce calls to WCG servers so it's not like I'm hitting them constantly but whenever I do ... parse error in reply file sounds like it's malformed coming from the server.
----------------------------------------Odd it just downloaded some gpu 6.56 and then started the problem all over again. I don't want to call this resolved as if it keeps up I will run out of WUs in about 1 hour. [Edit 2 times, last edit by Former Member at Nov 16, 2012 11:43:27 PM] |

Snow Crash - which computer were you getting those errors on?
Also - I just backed out the changes I was making. Can you get work now? |

Everything is downloading again ... thank you for handling this so quickly!
For reference this was on HAL9005 |

Please post again if this happens again. I added some of the changes that I backed out, but these should be the safe ones that fixed some of the GPU resend issues.

Ditto here. I have the same two "Errors ... ". Had been processing both HCC 7.05 and earlier today 6.56. Don't have any HCC WU's cached anymore.
Am running Win7 64bit desktop, Boinc Manager 7.0.28 (x64). Have tried the close/open BM both with project set at "Allow New Tasks" and "No New Tasks". Still get the same two errors when it tries to d/l new WU's. I have a Asus laptop, Win7 Pro 64bit, Boinc Manager 7.0.28 (x64) and it doesn't appear to have the same problem. It's on the same local network. It is presently processing and finishing HCC 7.05 Nvidia gpu WU's. It has many HCC nvidia 7.05 and 6.56 WU's cached. it last processed a 6.56 WU at about 5:30 PM my time. Hope this info might help solve this problem. Hasn't been resovled for me yet. |

Remove your app_info file. Stop and restart BM. Process one WU and then suspend WCG. Replace your app_info file. Stop and restart BM. Resume WCG. You should be good to go.
