Nano, will the GPU keep crunching if the monitor is unplugged from the computer? Also, will afterburner unlock the settings to make changes? Have trixx installed and it will not let me adjust memory clock. I have a setup where I use a card that is not compute capable to run the monitor and another to crunch that is not hooked up to the monitor and it crunches fine. if you're talking about a single card that is unplugged, I don't know. Try it hooked up and then after it's running unplug the monitor to see what happens but you'll need some way to remote in. That's where BoincTasks comes in handy. What brand of card are you asking about? I had problems with Trixx also but afterburner has worked without issues and works on both ATI and Nvidia.

@ andzgrid Is it the driver that is crashing or the whole system?

Was planning on switching between the two. Have the one setup in the basement where its cool, the new one is going there too. I'll give afterburner a shot when I get the new card in tomorrow. BTW, its a 7870 OC edition.

@ andzgrid Is it the driver that is crashing or the whole system? I'm not sure but I suspect both. With an UEFI-based BIOS, I'm able to change many BIOS-settings without leaving the OS, something that is not possible with a legacy BIOS. At last, it comes with a price, and yes, I may have pushed my machine too far and pushed the HD7700 too far into the unstable zone until one small misstep and kaboom, crash. In the ruble of the crash are seen remnants of system, driver, OS, and yes 'Computation Errors'.Now for the good news, I've restored* my machine and just sent WCG some done HCC-GPUv6.56-WUs and I've seen some of those doneWUs get evaluated as valids ! ![]() Notes: *Perhaps the driver I was using for the i7-3770k's integrated-GPU have had some part to play in the crash. That I surmise after reading the release-notes of Intel's latest driver for the i7-3770k's integrated-GPU, which I then installed and my machine feels more responsive than before. ; |
