Looking for a way to get BOINC to log UTC Date/Time

I would like BOINC to time stamp the Event Log (stdoutdae.txt) in UTC rather than local time. I know I can change the system clock but that will cause me some problems.

Anyone know of a way to make that happen?

Re: Looking for a way to get BOINC to log UTC Date/Time

In linux, every process is using it's own environment and the TZ (timezone) variable is part of it. Setting TZ to UTC only for the current interpreter or boinc process should solve your "problem".

stephan:~$ date
Mon Nov 5 07:34:39 CET 2012
stephan:~$ TZ=UTC date
Mon Nov 5 06:34:48 UTC 2012
stephan:~$ date
Mon Nov 5 07:34:51 CET 2012
stephan:~$ export TZ=UTC
stephan:~$ date
Mon Nov 5 06:35:05 UTC 2012

I have no idea how to do this with windows.

Re: Looking for a way to get BOINC to log UTC Date/Time

Except for manipulating the environment variable for a process [think to have seen a prior discussion how to do this on these forums, Linux?], running BOINC in a VM may be the round about way.

Stephan and Rob, thanks for the response and suggestions. Given I have zero experience with VM I'll see if I can find a way to change the TZ variable in Windows.
