Well, I am pretty sure I won't make it to sapphire on HFCC if I leave that task up to the quad core with no dedicated GPU. I need like slightly less than 200 cpu days and there are not many days left as I understand... Maximizing GPU production, at the expense of CPU tasks works against your badge goals. Badges count only CPU time. And GPU tasks report very little CPU time, much less than actual elapsed wall clock time. Additionally, running GPU tasks will complete the project even faster. So if your goal is a HCC badge, turn OFF any HCC GPU crunching. That way you get 100% of every CPU task, counting toward your badge. And you extend the project as much as possible, within your control. [Edit 1 times, last edit by zombie67 [MM] at Nov 6, 2012 2:34:50 AM] |

(HCC I already have sapphire but of course mainly I want to contribute to accelerating HCC with GPU since I have the possibility, it would just be a pity to miss out on HFCC badge just because there's no app_info file for combining HCC GPU (several WUs in parallel) with HFCC (several in parallel on remaining cores/threads).... ![]() Join The International Team: https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/team/viewTeamInfo.do?teamId=CK9RP1BKX1 AMD TR2990WX @ PBO, 64GB Quad 3200MHz 14-17-17-17-1T, RX6900XT @ Stock AMD 3800X @ PBO AMD 2700X @ 4GHz |

K,
I copied the AMD GPU + GFAM app_info in the post into my puter. Get this: 11/7/2012 8:51:12 AM | World Community Grid | Found app_info.xml; using anonymous platform 11/7/2012 8:51:12 AM | World Community Grid | File referenced in app_info.xml does not exist: wcgrid_gfam_vina_6.12_windows_x86_64 11/7/2012 8:51:12 AM | World Community Grid | File referenced in app_info.xml does not exist: wcgrid_gfam_vina_prod_x86_64.exe.6.12 11/7/2012 8:51:12 AM | World Community Grid | File referenced in app_info.xml does not exist: wcgrid_gfam_gfx_prod_x86_64.exe.6.12 11/7/2012 8:51:12 AM | World Community Grid | [error] State file error: missing application file wcgrid_gfam_vina_6.12_windows_x86_64 11/7/2012 8:51:12 AM | World Community Grid | [error] State file error: missing application file wcgrid_gfam_vina_6.12_windows_x86_64 AARRGGHH |

I get that message at the restart of BM. I'm trying to run both HCC GPU and CPU tasks. There is only 1 way I know of to cure that. Set WCG to receive no new tasks and let it finish whatever tasks it can.(or you could just abort them all and start over) Shut down Boinc and remove the app_info file and save it. When you do that any remaining tasks, whether CPU or GPU will be lost. Detach and the reattach to WCG.( a reset will not work) Let it download some new CPU and GPU tasks. When you have some of each new task suspend all of them. Shut down boinc, place the app_info file back into the project folder and restart boinc and resume your tasks. If the syntax of your app_info is correct you should now be able to run both GPU and CPU tasks. Finally got around to doing this. It's working. Thanks! @shdbcamping You are going to have to do what I just did! ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by BladeD at Nov 9, 2012 5:21:08 AM] |

TY, BladeD.
In the interim, I gave 12 WCC1 tasks a shot on my 7870. Working snappy at ~6 min per WU. 12 WU's every 6 min from start to upload start. 7870 happy at 43C Max even OC'd to 1050 and 1250 from stock. 980X not struggling at all with this. |

Re the OP: I am working to collate the info we have so far and produce a single app_info for all to which one would only need to append the required nVidia or ATI specific file. How's it going there?-- snip from OldChap [Nov 5, 2012 7:38:36 PM] post I was thinking... a bit of JavaScript coding in an HTML-page where variables can be entered in a list-box, then a 'Go' HTML-button and the text-content for an app_info is generated for later copy-and-paste? A kind of app_info 'generator', perhaps? ; |

I got my GPU running 2 tasks same time (HD7660D), but now 2 cpu cores are idling. Any suggestion to modify app_info to run CPU tasks?
