Re: Dear techs:

Maybe we can take a look at the results for the invalids.

Valid result (diff is dy max):
Me:
Min kernel time: 0.017108 (dx=14 dy=21 sample_dist=24 )
Max kernel time: 0.019603 dx=2 dy=0 sample_dist=1
Wingman:
Min kernel time: 0.017108 (dx=14 dy=21 sample_dist=24 )
Max kernel time: 0.019603 dx=2 dy=1 sample_dist=1

Invalid result (diff is dy min):
Me:
Min kernel time: 0.016239 (dx=21 dy=14 sample_dist=24 )
Max kernel time: 0.017983 dx=1 dy=1 sample_dist=0
Wingman1:
Min kernel time: 0.055326 (dx=23 dy=11 sample_dist=24 )
Max kernel time: 0.061500 dx=0 dy=2 sample_dist=1
Wingman2:
Min kernel time: 0.242839 (dx=23 dy=11 sample_dist=24 )
Max kernel time: 0.278740 dx=2 dy=1 sample_dist=1

The question is, how do we prevent this?

Re: Dear techs:

I don't know what it will tell us, but here's one of mine:
Me:
Tahiti
Min kernel time: 0.021597 (dx=23 dy=11 sample_dist=24 )
Max kernel time: 0.026167 dx=16 dy=19 sample_dist=24
Wingman 1:
Tahiti
Min kernel time: 0.023642 (dx=23 dy=11 sample_dist=24 )
Max kernel time: 0.026772 dx=2 dy=1 sample_dist=1
Wingman 2
Cypress
Min kernel time: 0.180277 (dx=23 dy=11 sample_dist=24 )
Max kernel time: 0.202989 dx=1 dy=1 sample_dist=0

If you're getting very many invalids and you're running Windows 7, try disabling aero. I haven't had an invalid since I did.

Unfortunately, I also changed the ports the PCIE cables were using, so it may be that.???

Re: Dear techs:

My invalids was caused by OCing the GPU. I lower it down and boom no more invalids.

Im using 12.11 beta, aero enabled and no issues

Re: Dear techs:

I beleive if we relaxed the OC on GPU mem we can have less invalids.

Re: Dear techs:

I won't even buy a factory-overclocked card after my experience with a GTS 450 on Folding@home that I related several months ago while this project was still in beta. It is a waste of time with all the troubleshooting you have to do to find the cause of any crashes.

To each their own. For something that puts out ~1,000,000 WCG PPD, it was worth a little headache.

Re: Dear techs:

Headache is natural for those who want to max out (or even squeeze a little) the capability of the card.
